The typical Texas (the way the school handles it) "Jeopardy" press conference. You have to deduce the question from the answer. They’re all like that. Every school. Frankly, almost every college Q&A press conference is like that. They’re not actually designed for fans to watch. They’re still mechanisms designed to give sportswriters content for their articles. I’m loathe to over interpret body language from a press conference, because it’s not enough data and it doesn’t mean anything anyway. But Gabriel and Iosia are both loose as a goose. They look like the whole experience is a blast, and they can’t wait for more. Doesn’t matter, if they can’t get it done on the court, but it’s hard to be worried about them coming out “tight” after that Q&A.

Doesn’t matter, if they can’t get it done on the court, but it’s hard to be worried about them coming out “tight” after that Q&A. Yeah but to be fair, none of these schools have broadcast journalism degree fields (that could teach the set-up of a proper presser) or (SID)sports information departments that are anything but staffed and made up of friends and family so they can get free tickets, passes and shoe sponsor clothing. Right? And yes, these pressers are mostly for the print media to write stories and tv media to get sound bites, but social media, NIL and YouTube has changed all of that but the schools and SID haven’t changed and see nothing in it for them to do so. So how can these schools be expected to know that being able to hear the questions being posed to the coaches and athletes are important and would add to the understanding of what was being discussed? The truth is, virtually every school has these substandard pressers where the questions are inaudible. . .and they do not care. And you know they do not care because fixing this problem could be easily remedied and inexpensive-all it would take is a desire to conduct a proper presser and a second micro. Conversations with SIDS & ADs have taken place, repeatedly-all over the country, pleas have been made, emails have been written, promises have been made, but nothing is ever done. They simply don’t care. Having a second microphone in the press area is just too much of a hassle…they have blank clipboards to hold and free t-shirts and shoes to get. . . 👀

Love seeing Bri front and center on all the press for her last tournament. What a career she’s had and an absolute amazing young woman. Enjoy your moment Bri!

Oh wow, I did not realize there would be 17 pages for a game that hasn’t started yet. Anyways, I’m glad Texas is owning their hated identity. They’ve had a likable team the past two years but everyone who isn’t a Texas fan continues to actively root against them in everything they do, so 🤷♂️. Just own it and embrace it at this point.
