I agree. This battle is between two quality teams. But if that Big Red defense plays like it has been and the production at the pins is even decent, Nebraska has this edge. So excited to take this one in though especially since Illinois will come rolling in hot.

Lost on a lot of people is Nebraska is in the sweet 16 starting 3 freshman in critical positions. That’s an extraordinary amount of touches by pups, and of course a real wild card

That’s an extraordinary amount of touches by pups, and of course a real wild card yea this is a good point. Kentucky was the same way (just a round earlier) two sophomore pins, a freshman libero, and freshman setter who were wildly talented but were obviously starting to feel the pressure and we know how that went.

I think Nebraska and Texas win their respective matches. But if either team isn’t focused on their opponent on Thursday and looking ahead to a possible regional final on Saturday, both teams could be done on Thursday. Illinois is hot and thinking the third time is the charm. Washington is playing very well, is experienced and the Pac12 champion. Enough said.

I agree with you both. Nothing much can replace age and experience.

Of course If Batenhorst goes bad it could set up a very dramatic and epic come off the bench situation for Sun. Wouldn’t that be something?

But Batenhorst did very well in the 2nd round.

I’m interested in what Illinois team shows up. The performance against UK would have beaten just about anyone in the tournament. But they haven’t been able to perform like that against top competition all year so can they do that twice in a row?

This is a match Nebraska should clearly win.

History says that UI team won’t show up again but that’s why they play the games.

Of course anything could happen, I’m expressing my opinion.
