After voting in the Illinois/Kentucky poll for Illinois I was admonished by a Ky fan that I should vote with my head, not with my heart. Needless to say, I'm picking Illinois in 4.

It’s only because Kentucky fans know Santa uses VTalk polls as part of his naughty or nice criteria. Their only looking out for you come Christmas.

I know on two nights, Nebraska played better than Illinois and won 3 - 0 twice. However, if Illinois plays as well as they did Saturday, they can beat a lot of teams. GBR.

I really like Illinois and I’m happy for them just wish it didn’t come at the expense of my cats. That being said I’m gonna be PISSED if they go back to making their 1200 errors per match after playing near perfect against us haha

Sweet Sixteen, y'all! Hope both teams stay healthy between now and Thursday and have their full lineup available for the match. Postseason volleyball between conference foes- we love it!

It’s hard to beat a team 3 times in one season - Salima Rockwell (Also, everyone)

It’s hard to beat a team 3 times in one season - Salima Rockwell (Also, everyone) I wonder if Salima has any repressed memories of 2016. Wisconsin didn’t make it look that hard, either.

It’s hard to beat a team 3 times in one season - Salima Rockwell (Also, everyone) I wonder what the overall record in all sports is when someone has said that about a third meeting? I’m betting it’s ridiculously lopsided in favor of the team who won first two meetings.

Salima also said that Illinois is a 'hot' team right now. I guess one good match in the tournament makes a team 'hot.'
The reality is that the Illini have been consistently inconsistent throughout the year. In B1G play they were 6-4 in the first half, and 6-4 in the last half. 3 and 2 in the last 5 matches of the conference. Beat Purdue and Penn State in October, but lost to Nebraska, Minnesota and Ohio State in straight sets at HOME in the last month. Lost to Michigan in four in the last weekend of conference play. Not exactly my description of a 'hot' team peaking at the right time.
To be sure, the Huskers aren't exactly tearing it up either. They've shown flashes of brilliance, but most of the play has been good to ordinary. The service game has been really sharp that past couple of weeks, but passing took a step back against Florida State. And, of course, the offense can't hit above .300 even against Campbell. At least they haven't been god awful since the bizarre effort at Indiana.
We'll see how far a superior floor defense and service game can take a team in the tourney. My guess is that the Huskers beat the Illini in four to make it to the regional final. Unless, of course, Terry and Cooney combine for 11 kills a set, which is what they did against Kentucky, and would be double of what they averaged against the Huskers in the two previous meetings.

I'll be interested to see how both teams adjust to playing at the Greg. Especially Nebraska and its defense - Devaney is HUGE with lots of room on the sidelines. But at the Greg, fans are right up against the court - there's significantly less real estate to chase down shanks, bad touches, etc.

It’s hard to beat a team 3 times in one season - Salima Rockwell (Also, everyone) The logical fallacy here is that, yes, it may be hard to win 3 in a row when you haven't played yet. But when you've already one 2, then you don't have to win 3 in a row any more, you just have to win one more.

I know different sport but my BBall knowledge goes much further than VBall. Villanova beat Georgetown for the NC in 85, Kansas beat OU in 88 for the NC both after losing twice in conference.
