I'll be interested to see how both teams adjust to playing at the Greg. Especially Nebraska and its defense - Devaney is HUGE with lots of room on the sidelines. But at the Greg, fans are right up against the court - there's significantly less real estate to chase down shanks, bad touches, etc. And that sucks

Any excuse used to show Lexi Rodriguez highlight.

one of the most iconic volleyball plays ever was because they had room to run down a ball

It’s hard to beat a team 3 times in one season - Salima Rockwell (Also, everyone) The logical fallacy here is that, yes, it may be hard to win 3 in a row when you haven't played yet. But when you've already one 2, then you don't have to win 3 in a row any more, you just have to win one more. I decided to google, figuring somebody must have looked into it. There is a *frequently* reposted bit from an NCAA basketball coach quoting from research STATS LLC supposedly did that shows in almost 1000 such instances in college basketball over 10 years ( from ? to ?), the team winning the first two games won the third 72.4% of the time. Trying to find where he got it proved essentially impossible. (I'm a little surprised it isn't higher.) coachbobwalsh.com/2018/03/02/its-hard-to-beat-a-team-three-times/

Every park has different dimensions so you have to adjust to it. A home run in one park is a double in another. An ace in Gregory is a free ball in the Devaney.

I don’t think it matters all that much, players adjust. It’s not like one team gets 15 feet and another gets 40 feet.

Maybe what I meant is players just deal with it since effects teams equally as far as available space. Not sure I’ve ever heard a team losing in Gregory and saying if we only had 50 more feet we could have won the match. You lost for other reasons.

One of my all-time favorite track-down plays that benefited from having some extra space was this beaut which I'd bet Nebraska fans remember: (#4 on the countdown)

I know it’s been awhile, but I’m calling this the redemption match from the Semifinal loss a few years back.

It makes for exciting Volleyball? It sure does if you're the home team, it's a great environment. Smaller court at Gregory places the crowd much closer to the action. The fans are right there and the upper deck is overlooking the court. So fan involvement can have an intimate influence, pro and con. The key for every match is first touches. Nebraska is looking good there but every match is a prove and earn it reality. History is good over a season but the next match starts at zero. I wouldn’t trade Rodriguez, Knuckles and Akana for any teams possible threesome in the country. Nada. It is comforting but any match isn’t a given.
