Not as slanted as the 11-1 vote. Some would call it a landslide . . .1995 That was 10 years ago, get over it. 1995 was 10 years ago? Who knew?

was it actually a touch/did Ali admit it? i havent gone back to look in ages.. but i always thought there wasnt enough evidence of a touch I don't remember Ali weighing in on it after the game but my recollection was that her left pinky or ring finger visibly bent back. Otherwise, we'd still be really salty about it three years later. Well, saltier than we are over the loss, itself. : ) Coach Tamas said afterward that yes she did touch the ball. She confirmed it. Sucks but it was a micro touch.

That was 10 years ago, get over it. 1995 was 10 years ago? Who knew? The reason a Texas fan would go on to a Nebraska-Illinois game thread to rehash old grudges is because of what happened 10 years ago.
Edit: None of it makes a lick of difference now. The only thing that matters is Nebraska-Illinois.

At least it was the right call.

I suggest you go read page 8 where an Illinois fan asked a question about Nebraska and Texas; and, the first reply provided by a Husker fan.

I guess. Or it might have been to answer a question posted in the thread.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I don’t think I’m far off from the average UT fan. We really are an arrogant bunch. I laughed at Nebraska leaving the conference and felt confident the same thing would happen to their program that happened to Arkansas when they left for the SEC. And it has.
I’m more upset about how our programs have been completely mismanaged. Now it looks like everything but football is on the right track (but boy howdy is that off the rails). Men’s and women’s basketball and baseball are all in really good hands. The AD just became the first department to beat Stanford in the all sports trophy since making fire was discovered. Outside of soccer, which is lead by someone who obviously has incriminating photos, the whole program feels like it’s in a good place. Then there’s football.
But none of that has anything to do with Nebraska. I have zero bitterness towards them. I respect their fans immeasurably. I think they give their teams - particularly volleyball - a different level of support than other schools. But there is a history there in volleyball. And as I said before, I don’t think the coaches are exactly buddies. So for me at least, there isn’t another program that gives me the same sense of satisfaction as beating Nebraska. But no bitterness or ill will about leaving the conference. Personally I wish Texas had figured out a way to join the Big 10, too, so probably more envy than bitterness.

And none of this has anything to do with the Ilinni-Husker game? If NE & TX win we can rehash this in the TX-NE match post, but then again it would not relate to the match.

You're correct. I shouldn't have taken the bait. It was such an egregious oversimplification of the past situation, I got sucked in. The only thing that matters now if whether the Huskers can complete the trifecta against the Illini. Making the regional final for a tenth year in a row would be a significant accomplishment.

So tell the innocent Illini fan not to ask questions about it. They didn’t do anything wrong. And frankly, a limited amount of posts creating a segue isn’t going to hurt anyone. In any case, I’m interested to see if Illinois can top Nebraska. My inclination is no. I think Nebraska’s defense is going to be too much. But Illinois played at a high level against Kentucky, another good defensive team. Repeat that performance, and anything can happen. It’s also nice to see Illinois returning to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since the Final Four loss to Nebraska - which has already been referenced - back in 2018. That was a great run under Coach Hambly and then Coach Tomas’s first two years, so it’s good to see them returning to that form with Tomas’s players.

John Cook said that he had Illinois over Kentucky last weekend in the office pool. I wonder who he had in today's match.
