wasnt Landfair playing six rotations before she got injured? I thought she was against Texas and Kilkelly was only coming in at times if necessary. I imagine Landfair will play six rotations with Wenaas and Wucherer will be front row only, maybe serving and playing one rotation in back row.I will be quoting this in triumph after Minnesota's first match in 2022, manifesting now. This makes the most sense. Not uncommon for an HS 6-ro to take some time to ease into backrow play. I'm taking more stock from U18 worlds, which had several days of competition, than the UA match. The backrow play will come around, and she's clearly fantastic OOS. #tb to Minny's international ball style lineup when Miyabe played all the way around and Kilkelly bro'd could happen again soon.

I predict Wenaas and Landfair will both play six rotations (Landfair playing opposite) and Kilkelly will play back row for Wucherer.
It would be exactly like the majority of this year (just Landfair in place of Samedy and Wucherer in place of Miyabe).

I can’t see Wenaas only playing front row with how well she did hitting out of back and personally, I thought her defense was pretty solid throughout the season!

I personally don’t believe either Wucherer or Landfair are ready to pass and play back row defense at a high enough level to justify making them 6-rotation players next fall. The sound decision would be to make Glenn the 2nd DS if she’s good enough to handle that role or add one via the portal if she is not.

If Landfair ends up playing on the right, why couldn't they just hide her in serve receive like they did Samedy? I also think Landfair is a better passer than Glenn.

I thought Landfair’s touch on the ball looked pretty solid in serve receive prior to her injury. The sample size for defense isn’t there yet collegiately but she was no slouch in her prep years. Kilkelly and Glenn are serviceable but I would take a backrow option in every rotation first and save the DSing for emergency situations. Especially if there are still no reason offensive answers in the middle next season.

It wasn’t bad, but passing a sliver of zone 5 is a heckuva lot less responsibility than being thrust into a larger passing role. One thing for certain is her and Wucherer have a full offseason to continue to work at it. I’m not discounting the possibility one of them grows into the role, but i’m of the belief that a true second DS makes the team much stronger granted there aren’t 2 exceptionally strong defensive pins capable of thriving all around.

Whether or not it’s what I think is best, my prediction is that the W’s will play OH; Wucherer at OH1 with Kilkelly as DS, Wenaas as OH2 6ro and Landfair as 6ro helping to pass in certain rotations when Wucherer is front row and being hidden in others when they have CC, Kilkelly, and Wenaas.
Landfair’s passing has looked good past, so I like this idea overall

I think this is the most likely option granted I expect Landfair on the right too (which i think is the best move). Is Landfair’s back row defense going to be good enough to justify keeping her in considering she doesn’t bring the D ball threat that Samedy did? All questions to ponder…

I’m not necessarily saying she’s the answer, but I really wanna see what Wolf can do

There was a match or two where Hugh didn't even sub Kilkelly in for Landfair early this fall. If he thought she had decent enough defense then, I expect he still will. And although she won't as effective as Samedy hitting out of the back row (at least not yet), I expect they won't mind having that option, especially when keeping her in the back row will not be a major liability from a defensive standpoint.
