OMG, I just saw our start time for this weekend. 11am tomorrow against Iowa and 10am Sunday against Colorado. WTF? why.... It literally makes no sense, with Colorado football having hosted TCU on Friday! Mid afternoon/early evening matches the next 2 days make sense. Come on, there have to be tons of Denver-Seattle and Denver-Chicago flights on Monday!

Hopefully, at some time in the near future, someone will mock me for this, but....
As we are about the watch the end of the EMP era at UW, is it possible we are also slow-watching the end of the era of UW volleyball dominance?
And by dominance, I mean having a team that regularly battles for the PAC title. Having a team that is always a lock to make the tournament, almost always a seed. And having a team with a steady stream of solid top recruits.
LBSU used to be one of those dominant teams. And while they're still competitive, UCLA and Hawaii are no longer the "locks" they used to be. Even Penn State has slipped from their lofty level. Things change. The mighty fall.
The uncertain future of the PAC, combined with the rise of the B1G and a few other conferences and the overall growing parity in the sport, has to make recruiting more challenging for all the PAC schools - well, except Stanford.
Not trying to spread gloom & doom or be Debbie Downer, but also don't want to be a Pollyanna.

Despite UW's comeback 5-set win over CP, my concerns stand.

The upcoming roster turnover reminds me of the turnover after the 2017 season (Schwan-Scambray-DeHoog-Tanner-Jones-et al). End of an era. If Manning (S), Wessels (MB), and Barton (OH/RS) can develop into the kind of players that EMP, Grote, and Hoffman are for Washington I think the Huskies will still be battling for conference titles. However, the changing parody and rise of other conferences do make maintaining a top program on the national stage from the far corner of the country more difficult. I think the 2024 recruiting class will be key. Haury (S) seems to be a good start, but we need a top flight MB and OH to restock. Any rumors out there?
As far as the 2022 season ....
If you are Cook are you leaving Endsley at OH and Bush at RS? Or are you continuing the end of Cal Poly game changes of putting Bush at OH and Endsley at RS?
Is there a reason to give Wilmes some more court time to try to develop another 6ro outside for this season to ease the pressure on the 2 person serve receive we currently have to use for a few rotations? Does this give the team more upside?
The biggest opportunity for improvements in my opinion are the growth of Bush as an attacker and the blocking from Summers -- they both have so much talent.

The uncertain future of the PAC, combined with the rise of the B1G and a few other conferences and the overall growing parity in the sport, has to make recruiting more challenging for all the PAC schools - well, except Stanford. UW recruits have always tended to fly under the radar. Cook has recruited more nationally than McLaughlin, but NW recruits (WA, OR, and BC) are still important factors in remaining competitive on the national stage. Bush, Summers, and Wilmes are all young players who're still developing. If we end up not hosting, because of early hiccups, we'll be the one team no one wants to see in their subregional. A big factor in parity is the Portal and the ease in transferring. It is also leading to an increased concentration of talent at the top (Texas, Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc.).

Sianna started as libero against North Texas.
Kate Morin DS for Madi, and Maeve is the serving sub.

With recent key wins by Pepperdine and Arkansas I feel a little less sting from the UWs showing thus far. Lets just hope they keep maturing and are a top team come tourney time.

Bush hitting stats starting to look pretty impressive. Is she going to turn out to be the next Northwest AA hitting gem? Schwan-Bajema-Drechsel-Hoffman and now Bush (maybe even Wilmes as well)
Maybe the distant Northwest with few D1 P5 prospects is paying serious dividends for the U. With so many prospects in places such as California and Texas it is difficult for other D1 schools to not send recruiters to those places and risk missing out, but maybe not worth the effort to scour the NW.

All of the GA upper-bowl "side-line" seat-back seats are now "reserved" (at $20 a pop). The upper-bowl "corner" and "end-line" seat-back seats, along with the wood-bench "nose-bleed" seats, are still GA. Adult GA tickets are now $15, while Senior/Youth GA tickets are still $5.
This makes the Gold Card ($60) a real deal for Adults, in that attending just four matches/games will pay for the card, if for somewhat worse seats than previously available. The Senior/Youth Gold Card (also $60) pays for itself after 12 matches/games. Everything from that point on is free (volleyball, men's/women's soccer, gymnastics, softball, and baseball).
