That's a crazy-general claim to make. All universities do this? All the time? Color me skeptical about that. I would be willing to accept that some universities make "very thorough and unbiased investigation" all the time, but certainly not all of them. That is counter to my experience of large hierarchical organizations. Yeah, I agree. I think it depends on the university, and it depends on the investigation. A P5 school with lots of money involved. Yes they have a process that is legit. You wouldn’t want to be investigated in it if you had anything wrong going on. This info is about the process. Again I’m not an Aired fan and I suspect he did some of these things, I just don’t believe attacking a person as a mob with suspect info is appropriate, ever. Especially after being investigated by a legit orocess on top of that. But canceling people is so much more fun now a days, so I understand the lure. |

I remember many people earnestly telling me Steve was 100% going to take over for Russ when he retired. Not me. I wish Steve well in what ever profession he moves on to. Really I do. Coaching young women is not meant for him. |

Coaching young women is not meant for him. Well before he was a college coach, he ran a juniors club. Not sure him going back to his roots will make the world a better place either. |

Of course they can run a comprehensive investigation if they want to. But that's a big if. I'm not even really talking about this particular situation per se. Just the idea that because it's a big school, they would automatically have done a thorough investigation. That viewpoint is rather naïve. |

What seems necessary now is the university having an outside firm do an investigation of the administrations internal investigation. Given the way Indiana has operated so far, they'll probably hire an "independent" law firm with a partner who is married to an Indiana official or something. But you never know. Maybe they'll authorize the investigation they should have done in the first place. Either way, they need to make a coaching change. |

If a school gets a complaint/whistleblower and they decide to investigate it is a serious deal. Run from outside the athletic department. Usually the DEI office. And they don’t mess around. |
