Shade travels from one board to another, I guess. Perhaps I should have a disclaimer on the TX board when I intend no shade (on the 5% of the posts where that's the case)? I don't care where you post. The important thing is that Sheffield starts "recruiting longer term liberos" right? Also as an insider, how did you not know about this transfer when you posted about transfer liberos??? Funny. When did I ever say I was an insider at WI? Never. Reading is...fundamental. I knew people in the day, but those days are long gone. I have lived away from Madison longer than I lived in Madison. I've been in Austin connected to the University, its faculty and staff for over 10 years.

Back to Wisconsin VB. Thoughts on lineup? Okay, I’ll play. No clue what season end will look like, but this is what I predict for opening weekend. OH1: Franklin (DS Güçtekin) OH2: Orzoł MB1: Robinson MB2: Crawford (SS Ashburn) S: Hammill RS: Smrek / Demps L: Bramschwager

The easiest guess for the settled lineup.
L1: Franklin L2: Orzol S: Hammill MB1: Robinson MB2: Hart RS: Smrek/Demps L: GG DS: Bramschrieber for Franklin
I'd give this lineup only a 30% chance of being the one. First there are uncertainties at setter, Hart coming back from injury, and at L now with Bramschreiber entering the picture. The badgers could also run a 6-2 or a 5-2 with the hitting talent they have. I'm not sure if having three liberos changes the chances of that happening or not.

I also think she might be the best OH in the B1G this season.

But I'm going to go crazy and guess a 6-2. I'll look brilliant if it happens, so why not.
L1: Franklin (Bramschreiber) L2: Orzol S1: Hammill/Demps S2: Ashburn/Smrek MB: Robinson MB: Hart L: Guctekin
I agree with Rainbow that CC and Bramschreiber may be MB2 and L early on. Whether this works depends on Franklin's passing, or if they can pass with two with Orzol and the L. But I think adding Bramschreiber actually makes it more likely.

Based on last year, I'll say that every lineup posted so far will be correct for at least one match somewhere along the way.

I’d love to see
L1: Franklin L2: Orzol M1: Robinson M2: Crawford Opp: Smrek (DS Guctekin) S: Hammill L: Bramshreiber
Sub Ashburn for Robinson to serve and move Guctekin to left back and Ashburn to right back for that half rotation.
If you need better passing, sub Franklin out for Boyer.

Interesting no one has Wrobel in the mix. Haven't seen her play. That is basically it. She's also coming into a really competitive gym. Franklin is an established stud at B1G level. I don't see a freshman beating her out. I feel like Smrek is a lock on the RS - she's just a different species. Demps has also stood out hitting from the back row. So Wrobel would have to beat out Orzol. She might hit better, but maybe not smarter. Orzol got much better at that as the season went on. She certainly won't pass as well, and passing will be key this year - they won't have Hilley's ridiculous quickness. If the badgers run the RS swap again with Demps and Smrek, and if they sub Ashburn on the serve again, then they'll be stuck with 1 DS at most. With Orzol in, you have two to three really excellent passers, but without her, suddenly you have a really obvious serving target somewhere in three rotations. Not having Rettke will change things though. We'll have to see.

I leave for two days and I miss something about a Bram...take your pick on the last half of the name (goes to check earlier in the thread).
Ok, back on board:
Shanel Bramschreiber

I think the best change, no offense to our very effective OHs l, will be having arms to side out more effectively OOS from the left and backrow.

I will go with
OH Orzol OH Franklin S Hammill MB Hart MB Smrek OPP Robinson L Bramschreiber DS Güçtekin
Serving Specialists Izzy and Boyer
It will be hard to keep Demps off the floor and I can see her and Crawford getting considerable playing time. Crawford getting spot starts throughout the year (especially early in the year) as she is too talented to ride the sideline and Demps as defensive specialist as others have stated for Smrek and maybe even starts at OH in early season matches against inferior opponents. Barring injury I think Wrobel should redshirt if she'd be ammendable to that.
Robinson was All-American as an OPP and I think that this her best suited position leaving Smrek to fill Danas shoes a tall order indeed.
I have been an avid follower since 2013 and a casual follower since Cook's years here and this years team I feel 1 through 12 is the deepest and overall most talented in that time. Fun times in Madison.
