Other than having no 'off-season' to rest and recover - and that can certainly be important - there's very little overlap between the two. Indoor track competition starts in December, but 'important' meets aren't until Feb and March, with outdoor following quickly behind. And the outdoor at the collegiate level runs through June (with international level through the summer into fall). Also, I think indoor and outdoor are considered separate for eligibility purposes, so someone could do four years of VB, then use their fifth year to concentrate entirely on a full indoor and outdoor track season. [ Would be nice to see her on both teams & use her scholarship through the track team, that way the 2024 class would have an available spot on the volleyball team Does Track outrank Volleyball on the scholarship hierarchy?

I was hoping that some of our current juniors would stay for a Covid year. I think we are out of scholarships now. Oh I didn’t realize there was a hierarchy to it all.

OH Trinity Shadd-Ceres is the newest badger recruit in the 2024 class. Don’t know much about her besides that she is also a stud track athlete, maybe a dual sport athlete for the badgers? Has UW ever had a dual Vball track athlete before? Alexis Mitchell ran track and did some jumps after her vball eligibility finished up

Alexis Mitchell ran track and did some jumps after her vball eligibility finished up After though, not during her eligibility? Talented VB and Track is easy combo: Name that athlete? (Below is barely scratching surface of collegiate accomplishments) Collegiate Record Holder in the Indoor High Jump (6-6) · Three-time NCAA Champion (High jump) · Five-time All-American · Third place at 2006 USA Outdoor Championships (High jump) · Six-time Big 12 Champion (High Jump) · 2005-06 Outdoor Track &?Field At the time of her graduation, she ranked third all-time at Texas in kills (1,821) and points (2,180), while ranking fourth in block solos (132) and fifth in hitting percentage (.326) • 2008-09 Big 12 Conference Female Athlete of the Year • 2009 Volleyball Magazine National Co-Player of the Year

Why not, I suppose. Just realized that Destinee Hooker was born in Frankfurt, Germany. Hmm… PS: I think Trinity is 15, and really gifted athletically. Definitely competes at a level as if she’s much older.

From this year's Canada Summer Games, I'm seeing her listed as 178cm, which is about 5'10". Must have a big vertical and good ball control.

With respect to 2024 recruiting, it felt like 2 recruits was the minimum, with 3 being likely. I wonder if they'd add a fourth. If the middle that visited at the same time as Trinity wants to commit, I think you take her.
With the caveat that rosters are more fluid than ever, assuming Izzy comes back and exhausts her eligibility in 2023, you've theoretically got 7 scholarships finishing in 2024, 2 in 2025 and 1 in 2026. With 3 2024 recruits, it then assumes at least one of the 7(demps, cc, devyn, orzol, franklin, mj, smrek) transfers or doesn't take an available covid extra year at UW. That always seemed like a reasonable bet, leading to the thought that they'd take 3 recruits for 2024. If they take 4, then it gets more interesting with respect to someone else moving on, and also being less flexible in looking at scholarship transfers.
