When Crawford broke her finger and missed five matches, Robinson moved into the middle and Demps became Izzy's (I think) opposite. Over those matches, in 20 sets Demps had 8 block assists. For comparison, both Smrek and Robinson averaged about one block per set on the year; Robinson a little more. "Very weak" is overstating it, but it wasn't all that good.
I am not going to say Sheff is the best at in game changes, but its clear that he is quite flexible considering how he used Smrek and Demps last year. I feel Demps has had every opportunity to grab more playing time but she has shown a weakness in both passing and blocking which has prevented her from getting a spot on the floor. I think if GG was a stronger passer, then Demps would have been given more chance to sub in for Franklin/Julia. But putting her in for either means she has to hold up in serve receive which she has never shown to do, so it makes are below average serve receive even worse. Then with Smrek/Robinson, no room for her to be at rightside especially with her very weak blocking.
