Mimi Coyer of Oregon for PAC FOW: 2-0 record for the Ducks, 29 Kills, 3.62/Set, 16 digs, 2 per set, Hit .311 from the pin. Also 4 blocks and 2 service aces. Is there any other PAC-12 freshman out there with better numbers? Yes, I have her locked in as FOW in the Pac. I saw her play today against PSU, and she looked good. Nuneviller also went for 5 KPS, hitting .341

PAC-12 finishes the weekend 23-8. Overall a great start. 5 teams start undefeated, OR, CAL, AZ, Stan, and USC. Four other teams finish 2-1, COL, UT, ASU, and WSU. UCLA and WA make up for opening day losses to finish 1-1. Only OSU finishes with a losing record. Not too surprising, but likely they should have started off with easier competition. that's barely a 75% non-conference win percentage, that's NOT a great start. For RPI purposes, We want to be in the mid 80's as a conference. Also, Cal did not go undefeated, they lost to UC San Diego. UCLA losing to Utah State is embarrassing, but the LA schools frequently have become a disappointment to the prominence of our conference so this ins't too surprising. ASU losing to Toledo is embarrassing. Washington could have went 2-0, but 1st match at an at-large level NCAA team that returns everyone is reasonable. OSU going 1-1 would have been helpful. had we won those matches and been 27 wins on week 1, THAT would have been great start. Week 2 we almost need to be perfect. UW lost to Arkansas and you are throwing shade at LA?

I mistyped between CAL and COL. COL went undefeated. Maybe not a "great" start, but a solid start. Yes a couple unfortunate losses, but every team but OSU finished with a winning record. With UCLA and WA splitting too. Obviously your focus is already on the NCAA tournament, but sometimes the first weekend wins also serve the purpose of building confidence for the teams. The losses can hopefully serve to fix corrections moving forward. maybe it's just a sign of the times, but looking at RPI / post season implications, not fixing corrections, was the standard for the Pac-12 in the non-conference. It wasn't that long ago where we didn't have to worry about Pac-12 teams dropping matches to Utah State, Arkansas, Toledo, and UC San Diego. Do you think the B1G is concerned at all that they dropped matches to Jacksonville State, Oklahoma and Florida Gulf Coast? I don't.

I think we'll find out a lot about Stanford (Florida and Texas) and USC (Creighton and Kentucky) next weekend and Oregon in two weekends (Minnesota and Penn State). UCLA and Washington non-con are pretty soft until UCLA finishes with USD, so won't fully find out until the first few league matches.

A bit yes and a bit no. Utah State returns 8 letter winners from the team that almost beat Arkansas at Arkansas last year (Arkansas had to win the 4th 28-26 and the 5th 15-13), so do you really think that was a good loss for UW with a full squad? A better loss than UCLA with their top OH and top MB out? Just seemed like interesting timing to drop that comment with all that, plus with SC not dropping a set in 3 matches over the weekend. Doesn't really matter, we will learn plenty about these teams over the next few weeks.

hence my thank you Jesus! going 5 with Dayton and Milwaukee...it was close there lol. but at the end of the day RPI (stupidly) doesn't care about how you actually play or the set scores, just that you win!

Man I want to be a pac truther bc I hate the big ten but like girl. What is going on 😭 when your conference revolves around pin hitters, and you can’t recruit the top pin hitters anymore😵💫
