PAC 12 FINAL STANDINGS VS PRE SEASON POLL FINAL STANDINGS | RANK | PRESEASON POLL | Stanford (19-1) | 1 | Washington (8) | Oregon (17-3) | 2 | Stanford (2) | Washington State (14-6) | 3 | UCLA (1) | Southern California (13-7) | 4 | Oregon (1) | Colorado (12-8)* | 5 | Southern California | Washington 12-8)* | 6 | Washington State | UCLA (10-10) | 7 | Utah | Utah (8-12) | 8 | Arizona State | Arizona State (7-13) | 9 | Colorado | Arizona (6-14) | 10 | Arizona | Oregon State (2-18) | 11 | Oregon State | California (0-20) | 12 | California |
*Colorado & Washington tied for 5th and split the season series with one another should a tiebreaker be needed, Colorado won 4 sets to Washington 3 sets Looks like voters really overestimated Washington and UCLA, and underestimated Oregon and COL. One could argue that Washington would have done better without injuries, and no one could have predicted the phenomenal freshman year by Oregon's Colyer.

Same record = same place.

UCLA had a lot of injuries/unavailable players too. Aleupi and Forte were out most of the season, Luper and McCall for a while and Dodson was out for a few matches. Teams who underperform expectations are often the teams with more than their share of injuries. Oregon is remarkable bc they did so well even though Pukis was out for six matches.

I was pleased that Oregon did so well when Pukis was out, but I think the main reason was the weakness of the rest of the conference. Not as big a deal, but Stanford blew through the conference after Francis bit the dust, again more the weakness of the PAC, not anything exceptional Stanford did.
