Taking a stab at Mid-season All-Conference selections. (NOTE: This is as of this point, but injuries can change these.) Player of the Year: | Kendall Kipp | Stanford | Setter of the Year: | Ella May Powell | Washington | Libero of the Year: | Gala Trubint | USC | Freshman of the Year: | Mimi Colyer | Oregon | Coach of the Year: | Jesse Mahoney | Colorado |
*For POY, Fields & Nuneviller are all very close too. I could see any of the 3 winning it at this point. For LOY, Trubint & Oglivie are my leaders right now and I keep going back & forth. I think Stanford gets at least 1 award, so if Fields takes POY, I'd go with Oglivie for LOY. I went with Mahoney for COY since it seems they are overperforming so far. 1st Team (18) Meegan Hart | MB | Colorado | Maya Tabron | OH | Colorado | Brooke Nuneviller | OH | Oregon | Hannah Pukis | S | Oregon | Mimi Colyer | OH | Oregon | Kendall Kipp | OPP | Stanford | Elena Oglivie | L | Stanford | Kami Miner | S | Stanford | Sami Francis | MB | Stanford | Skylar Fields | OH | USC | Mia Tuaniga | S | USC | Gala Trubint | L | USC | Madelyn Robinson | OH | Utah | Claire Hoffman | OH | Washington | Ella May Powell | S | Washington | Marin Grote | MB | Washington | Magda Jehlarova | MB | Washington State | Pia Timmer | OH | Washington State |
Honorable Mention (15) Iman Isanovic | OH | Arizona State | Lydia Grote | OH | Cal | Taylor Simpson | S | Colorado | Georgia Murphy | L | Oregon | Kiari Robey | MB | Oregon | Gloria Mutiri | OPP | Oregon | Caitie Baird | OH | Stanford | Elia Rubin | OH | Stanford | elan McCall | OH | UCLA | Matti McKissock | S | UCLA | Emilia Weske | OPP | USC | Vanessa Ramirez | L | Utah | Emoni Bush | OH/OPP | Washington | Argentina Ung | S | Washington State | Laura Jansen | OH | Washington State |
Just missed: Hiapo, Levinska, Hadrych, Kuehl, Vernon, Vicini, Alupei, Cole, Luper (will get added in soon with more matches played), Bays, Ryan *If Pukis doesn't come back, she'll drop down/off and I could see Luper taking her place on 1st-team if she stays healthy. All-Freshman Team (7) Mikayla Hayden | Cal | Mimi Colyer | Oregon | Elia Rubin | Stanford | Grayce Olson | UCLA | Jordan Wilson | USC | Gala Trubint | USC | Ashley West | Utah |

I’m not clear on what Pukis’s injury is.
Is there any kind of timetable for her return? Or is it completely up in the air?
Also, Fields is winning that POY award. She’s just getting cooking. I do like Kipp as the better all around player when including serving and defense, but she can’t hold a candle to Fields on the pin or in the back row, and that’s not a knock on Kipp. I also think Fields is a better blocker, although I don’t know the stats, which I do think are important. While I’ve watched some of both teams, I’ve missed too many matches by both teams to even have an eye test opinion on effective touches at the net which aren’t being counted as blocks.
Then you have Nuneviller who is obviously next level as an all around player.
In the preseason I thought Fields might have a chance at national player of the year, but next year is a better opportunity for that if USC can get a little better.

I think these awards are very much based on the final standings of each team at the end of the season.
If Stanford wins the conference, hard to imagine they will only get one award.
Same can be said for USC/Washington/Oregon.

Same can be said for USC/Washington/Oregon. They aren't getting one award with that projection. Stanford is getting 6 awards (not including HM).

I would hope Claire Hoffman is at least in the conversation for POY. There is still a lot of volleyball to be played.

Same can be said for USC/Washington/Oregon. Well, given that there have been years when Washington won the conference and didn't get *any* of the individual awards.....

UCLA had 3 of 5? I'll bet they are really good this year!

So don't be coming in here whining that if Stanford wins then they automatically deserve a bunch of winners on the individual honors list.

I always like it when UW wins the conference, but Stanford gets a better seed.

I am pretty confident POY is Fields to lose at this point. The committee seems to like players who singlehandedly carry their teams rather than the top player on a balanced team.

There is no "committee". These awards are given by a vote of the coaches. Coaches give a ranked vote for players on the all-conference team (can't vote for their own team). The highest point total player is named POY (no separate vote for that). They do the same for freshmen, and the highest point total player in that vote gets FOY. There are separate votes for LOY, SOY, and COY.

Oh, hey, I'm looking for the Washington pity party - am I in the right place?
