Lednicky made a statement today for A&M. The rest of the SEC, beware. She's good! I was very impressed. Already carrying a big load for this team

Ole Miss looking pretty good vs GA Tech in set 1 — but honestly, GA Tech looks terrible, too.

So, one week in, what are people's reactions? Which teams are better than expected, worse than expected, or about where we thought they were (given the time of year)?
Some quick knee jerk reactions:
Better than I expected: TAMU (Lednicky is legit) Ole Miss (despite going 0-2, the transfer setter is doing well)
About what I expected: Arkansas (could have been in the above category) Florida (weak competition) UGA (looked solid, even if the competition was so-so) SC (the Sacred Heart match was shaky) MS State (both Notre Dame and Milwaukee looked weak, but MSU dominated) Mizz (got better as matches went forward) LSU (hope they settle down when they decide between Flickinger, Hill, and Dotson; the RS transfer looks good) Auburn (didn't actually get to watch any of their matches) Kentucky (I guess - looked elite and then kinda messy at different times)
Worse than I expected: Bama (they are undefeated, but ... they looked pretty rough much of the time) Tennessee

Knee jerk reactions for me:
Arkansas- We all knew they’re a scrappy bunch but it was good to see them pull off the win. Now they just need to keep the momentum going. Hogue was a surprise for sure.
Florida- This team will go as far as Stucky’s health and Trinity Adam’s passing will take them. OH2 will be an issue all season long.
Kentucky- They need to set their middles much more. Rollins arm will fall off if they don’t. Tealer is too good to have so few attempts.
Mississippi State- Looked as solid as expected. Thought Notre Dame would’ve looked a little better but they clearly need time with Selima.
Ole Miss- Honestly thought Bair would’ve been playing six rotations. Nice to see that the slide is still very much in effect because Ratliff will make her money there. Schnitta needs to be more effective.
LSU- I agree with the prior assessment of Larkin. Personally, I’d stick with Hill and Dotson on the outside but competition at the position should be good for all of them. Tonya shouldn’t constantly change them though. Make a decision and stick with it.
Texas A&M- Lednicky was a revelation on the right side and Meuth should help them have a stable year. They have to have more middle production and cut back on the errors. Especially Hecht.
Didn’t see too much of Auburn, Mizzou, Georgia, Bama and Tennessee.

I watched 5 or so points of the Bama match and was bored. Tennessee looked a lot like Bama, looking for an identity and a leader.

Tennessee was without Mahaffey, but I think it was a bit more than that.
Runnels as a grad student was better than Soph Lovett is (no shade to Lovett, who is talented), and UT thought they would have both Bell and Mahaffey in the middle for most of the spring. Then Bell medically retired and now Mahaffey is on crutches (not sure when she's expected back), so they're playing with two brand new MBs. I still like the talent on Tennessee's roster, though.
Anyone know how long Mahaffey is going to be out?

one more thought about this past weekends play:
Whew when Texas comes to the SEC. Their level of play is so much quicker/higher than any other team currently in the SEC. But also- that will make all the other SEC teams so much better.
Also thankful the Eggleston, O'Neal era will be done by then but lord they are fun to watch.

SC was shaky but to be expected with McCutcheon just back from injury. Moorman had a great weekend.
