Yes I think coach should continue to use her “usual speech” during games judiciously. Coach your girls up in the practice gym and strategize/adjust with them in-game. You ain’t gonna magically team them something under the bright lights You really can beat a dead horse with the same stick till it’s numb. I also think she emotes a little too much with her team and can also reel that in Does anyone know if Robyn was that emotive as a player? Because if not, I like that she is expressive with her team, comes from a place of genuinely being enthusiastic about her players success. I’m a pretty stoic coach but I don’t think that’s the only way to be.

But it needs to have balance. I find it hard to see how she can accurately follow a match strategically while jumping up and down on the sidelines getting into the heat of it all the time. I do like times when she is expressive with her team too. It’s just that in my opinion it’s too overboard at times and I think her not talking to them in between the sets 2 and 3 really gave them the space to breathe and connect on what they have to do.

She was the type to lead with actions and gave “looks” to others if she was displeased with their play. That she has so much emotion now, is such a change and huge difference from her playing days at Hawaii. No question tho, silence or not, there has never been any question about her leadership.

You might find it hard how she can follow a match strategically while doing her Thang on the sidelines but that's simply who she is and what she is about. That's her style and how she is has always been. You nor I cant assume what she does or doesnt do because she is full of theatrics out there. Its pure and raw emotion and its beautiful. She was like that even on the sidelines coaching club ball. I hope we aren't for changing who someone truly is and how someone acts because we may not understand it. The one thing I get from Coach Rob is that she is who she is. She ain't gonna change for anyone and frankly could care less what people think of her. Matlin was well aware of that before hiring her. I remember people getting all habut with her because she wears long pants and a t-shirt/collar shirt at games because it seemed "unprofessional." But had no issue with Male HC's using the very same thing on the sidelines. People want her to be how they see fit. Instead of allowing her to be who she truly and authentically is. I'm sorry but that's a no go if are trying to change the fabric of who she is and how she coaches.

But I think we all can agree coaching is so much different from playing. She wasn't emotive most likely because she had to put full concentration on the game as the QB for the team essentially while as a player. But as a coach, it's something different for her because those girls out there is because she is leading from the sidelines and tbh it's like she wishes she could be out there to play again. In fact she can still out run and out play 98% of the heffas on this message board even at her age. Hahahaha That's the kind of excitement or even displeasure you get from her. It's raw and real.

I do think more balance and management of the emotions could be positive for her and her team. I enjoy her fire and her excitement but there should be a better balance. That or she fill her staff with better people so she can go on and do her “thang” on the sideline.

Maybe when you're at a match sometimes go up to her and tell her to keep her emotions in check.

Have a seat with that mary with your emotions 😂 This Robyn will be Robyn argument is weak af. If this was any other coach with Hawaii coaching this way with this kind of record people would be clamoring for their head. I don’t dislike her at all and absolutely loved her as a player. I’m just not so sure of her as a coach yet based off of the body of work since 2017 so far. I sure all enjoying watching it though. 🥰

And if youre so perplexed as to why I’m sharing my thoughts on a volleyball message board maybe it’s it’s time for you to ask yourself why tf you’re venting off to me about my thoughts huh? Get outta here! 😂

The staff ain’t it and she needs better help. Like I said, Robyn is beloved and it gives her a lot of leash. Time will tell if she’ll build the program back up or not. I’m hoping she will but so far no cigar. Though I have enjoyed the sporadic big and exciting win like last night.
