Ew, UCLA is too boujie for RAM Women's Vball still doesn't pay a lot. The schools that could triple her salary would also have a lot more qualified takers for the amount they are paying. One Sweet 16 in 6-7 years isn't going to get an elite P5 job. Elite P5 jobs are overrated anyway outside of of maybe a few programs. Can't fault Robyn for not doing more to go deeper in the tourney as Mid Major programs are at a big disadvantage from the get-go. She's competing despite the recruiting disadvantage. If Hawaii consistently got the recruits some other programs got, where would they be? definitely better than just one sweet 16 appearance. So for next year, If all players return next season, she'll have the opportunity to do better than a sweet 16.

If all players return, and I hope they do, Robyn has to schedule as tough a pre-conference schedule as she possibly can, tougher then this year's pre-conference schedule. Robyn has to do this with the thought of at least hosting the 1st and 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. In my opinion, The Wahine Team will be good enough to host the 1st and 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament, depending on their RPI. I am thinking, their RPI has to be below 20, pre-conference, to have a chance to host a 1st and 2nd round. That would mean scheduling teams from the B1G, PAC12, SEC, and also, teams like Pittsburgh, and Louisville. The Wahine will be good enough next year to play those kinds of teams and even beat them.

RAM talking about how much Amber means to the team 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 Amber does mean a lot to the team. Are you thinking that Robyn sounds sad talking about Amber? Like this is her last season with her? Amber's game has grown tremendously at Hawai'i. Hawai'i has a habit of taking raw skill and molding players into great volleyball players- look at Mags recently. Amber has one more year of eligibility and there's no guarantee that any of our covid juniors will return next season but if any of them were leaving, I would think that they would have announced so they could be celebrated by the program at Senior night, Amber especially. I find it hard to believe any of our Covid Juniors would walk away from that experience. Lol relax I’m pretty sure they just found it touching

I was thinking about this earlier we probably surely won’t be playing UCLA next season . I was thinking maybe Texas and Baylor, not sure about any bigger names maybe USC again.

We got to form relationships with other PAC-12 teams. I’d like to see Robyn get teams like Oregon and UW here on a more consistent basis. We kind of lucked out with UCLA with Sealy being a former UH coach and even during Andy Banakowski’s (who was good friend with Dave Shoji). Stanford had not been here in ages and would be awesome to do battle with them more often. Utah’s staff have local ties, maybe we can get the Utah to play some home and home. Utah recruits Hawaii so having the Lady Utes here play here more make sense.

Too many pac schools may not be a good thing cause RPI and they beat each other up but I’m not an RPI expert

I know they both enjoy coming here but the landscape has changed and maybe they both might feel differently than they do now. I still think we should look to play other teams. The new HC at UCLA might not be to fond of coming here. We’ll have to wait and see.

Hawaii racks up a lot of in conference wins and hasn't placed worse than 2nd in the decade they've been in the Big West. Add a Pac 12 team like Oregon or Washington to a round robin tournament, and it can become a very attractive to get good teams to make the trip.

Speaking of Oregon/Pac12 players, Regan Hope is in the portal. Alupei as well I think? Might be good gets for the Bows next season. Pretty sure Alupei was the other portion of what gave the bows fits in that head to head besides Luper. Former Jr National team player and we’ve had good results with Oregon transfers…kinda lol. Mostly just trying to make a list of the better middles that end up declaring and for the criteria of what the team needs for the future. Obviously Dodson and Onye are the best middles in the portal but both would be 1 and dones and it wouldn’t make any sense to graduate 4-5 middles and not have anyone for that position in the Spring.

I saw on the Portal Tea Thread that Kara McGhee (Baylor) is in the portal. She’d be a grad transfer but she would be a GREAT get for the bows.

Yea there are some really solid Grad transfer middles in the portal but with the roster makeup being what it is, a middle on the roster with eligibility to play in 2024 is going to be critical. Every other position is going to be spoken for with underclassmen depth and unless it’s Kahahawai wanting to return I don’t see the sense in pursuing any player that doesn’t fit that specific criteria

That makes more sense now that you explain it. Hopefully y’all find a solid MB with 2-3yrs of eligibility. And we’ll keep Kahahawai as long as she’ll let us 😂

Yea Im sure Devin stays unless something changes but man there’s just a whole lot of depth incoming for that Texas lineup and Elliot is really one to use it once he’s settled on the lineup he wants full time.
