Georgetown sucks not just because they suck, but because they want to charge people (beyond the Flo package that carries most Big East action) with their own university-based premium $$ subscription. I, too, think Georgetown sucks, for this very reason. Flo costs $14/month for me and doesn't include matches at Georgetown. I wonder if, when their current contract expires, Georgetown will migrate to Flo. As several of you pointed out, St. John's is not included on Flo either - however, their home matches are available on ESPN3, which is more accessible than Georgetown's premium service. Prior to Flo, Providence and Seton Hall were on the same platform as Georgetown, but they are now included on Flo. Let's be honest, Georgetown sucks for many, many reasons.

Marquette's schedule didn't have that listed so I may have missed it for Friday.

I noted in the Badger thread how the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is really ramping up its coverage of UW volleyball (couple long articles per week) and then I realized the obvious that they have had much sparser coverage of the school (Marquette) actually in Milwaukee who is also ranked. One step forward I guess, but come on. I just went and commented on the UW article essentially stating the above.

Let's be honest, Georgetown sucks for many, many reasons. you didn't get admitted, did you? I never applied there, so it's moot. My Jesuit education was paid for by the good ol USA (GI Bill) and convenience of mom working for Creighton. My reasons for my dislike of them all almost 100%, if not 100%, sports related. Most of it is not living up to the hype in basketball.

As recently as a few years ago, the Omaha World Herald (OWH) was all in on smaller Nebraska/western Iowa based colleges and universities. The coverage of these schools was regular and usually far above expectations for schools in D2, D3, and the NAIA. Then, Lee Enterprises bought them. I'll end the story there or I might become too NSFW for the vtalk boards.

To weigh in on the Georgetown thing . . .
They were invested more under Toby than in previous years, but that's not saying a lot. Admissions are an incredibly difficult challenge and the support services around the athletic department are practically nonexistent. Hell, they shared a locker room with two other sports until just a few years ago.
The nonrevenue sports they're invested in win (MSOC, WSOC, MLAX, WLAX) and everyone else just tries to survive.

Thank you. I was semi-aware of at least Men's soccer. I thought Lacrosse too, but wasn't 100% sure.

Georgetown's biggest problem is they carry 30 sports and half their budget goes to the collective tire fire of men's and women's basketball.

What sports are you cutting/which are you reinvesting in? My two parameters: Keep in mind that a similar number of scholarships should be cut from men's and women's sports and there must still be the NCAA minimum of D1 Sponsored sports (I think it's 14 but please verify).

Mervin probably has a better understanding of how that department works than just about anyone on the board. He's certainly going to know the ins and outs. He could do a solid job as AD.

Maybe this would be a good offseason exercise for the "school experts" respectfully on the board. I do NOT nominate myself for any school as I am too much of a homer for Creighton. I could not do the job well.
