I agree with this and that they do have a nationally recognizable brand. I vehemently disagree this somehow means that they're invested in every sport they field. In regards to volleyball specifically, I don't think they're invested very much at all. But I thought n00b might have been sarcastic in their comment, at least I hope so. (Sarcasm transfers so poorly to the written word if you're not speaking to an audience that knows you, which is also why I mentioned I was new here, I was looking for help understanding the comment). I wasn’t being sarcastic. I’m not saying they should be Top 50. I’m saying they are basically an Ivy League school with scholarships (even if it isn’t 12). I’ve been to Georgetown, Rider and New Orleans’s campuses. I emphatically believe that even if Georgetown had zero scholarships (like an Ivy), they should be better than fully funded Rider or New Orleans. The fact they they are worse than those teams despite having scholarships is a problem. While campus, branding, and academics are good starting points for any university/college. I think there's other more important factors to think about when talking about specific sports. What is the school's emphasis on volleyball? Is it important to the athletic administration? Is it well attended/have a passionate fanbase? I didn't look at Rider or New Orleans, but I did take a look at Georgetown. Look inward before looking outward. The coach's profile hasn't been updated since he took the helm in 2020. They didn't have a volleyball media guide that I could find. Georgetown Men's BB Media Guide. (A couple years old, but they've done one recently) to show that Georgetown has done it for a sport it supposedly prioritizes. Creighton Volleyball Media Guide Archive to show what a school that prioritizes volleyball does. If you want Georgetown to be better, demand better as a fan, start with the simple things that show Georgetown cares just a little about volleyball. There's little to no history and based on looks at their website, it's clear the administration doesn't prioritize it, and that is surely being used against them on the recruiting trail. Could the right coach come in and change that? Maybe, I don't know. Maybe Heller is the guy, maybe he's not. I personally don't care if it's Georgetown, St. John's, Xavier, UConn or any of the other Big East teams that join Creighton and Marquette at the top, I just want at least a couple more to do so, but the more the merrier.

Hannah Vanden Berg participated in warm ups for the first time this year, last night. Getting her back would be big for Marquette. Things are still on course for three meetings between Creighton and Marquette, hopefully none of the other schools play spoiler.

Foti has been really solid at oppo, but at the end of the day she’s still a converted setter. I would put Vanden Berg at oppo, maybe bring Foti in for her back row (extra pair of hands). Don’t think you can bench Hamilton or Reitsman at this point. Good problem to have though.

I think if we do see her, it'll be backrow for Foti to solidify passing (if she's doing that well)

Like historically they’ve been led by a go to, incredibly athletic pin (Autumn Bailey, Taylor Louis, Allie Barber, Lines) and complimentary players around them which is why I feel like Vandenberg is such a necessity (she’s not, just a luxury at this point) This year it’s the reverse, a setter that’s so much more than a game manager, the most dominant middles that I’ve ever seen at Marquette and the pins are the ones that are solid.

Georgetown sucks not just because they suck, but because they want to charge people (beyond the Flo package that carries most Big East action) with their own university-based premium $$ subscription.

St. John's is also one of those schools who still have content on ESPN3 (I'm still not 100% sure what that's about, but you'll see that happen with some MAC schools as well). I'm not sure what determines whether a match is ESPN+ or ESPN3 for example for a team like Bowling Green. I imagine it's some weird contract stuff. Syracuse vs. Bryant (played at UConn) was actually on Flo.

Marquette sweeps Providence and they didn’t even play half their starters tonight.

StJ beat GT in five (yikes)
Seton Hall beat Nova in 4.

Marquette sweeps Providence and they didn’t even play half their starters tonight. Slight correction to that; every player on the Marquette roster saw the floor tonight. Well except for the injured ones (Hannah and Morgan)

For St. John's, when this basketball-centric private (mostly Catholic) version was formed, St. John's had an existing 3rd tier deal with ESPN, at least partially due to the long history between and St. John's. St. John's 3rd tier rights were grandfathered into the "new" conference deal. Due to Fox's lack of interest in non-basketball sports, I'm sure St. John's was allowed to continue their deal.

I, too, think Georgetown sucks, for this very reason. Flo costs $14/month for me and doesn't include matches at Georgetown. I wonder if, when their current contract expires, Georgetown will migrate to Flo. As several of you pointed out, St. John's is not included on Flo either - however, their home matches are available on ESPN3, which is more accessible than Georgetown's premium service. Prior to Flo, Providence and Seton Hall were on the same platform as Georgetown, but they are now included on Flo.
