That was definitely a game-changer. Agree with Jaela's injury. I also don't think hosting is in the cards this year (at least at the moment) for several reasons, but that feels like a different post. Ask me after 10/14 to see if my opinion changes (it could). That being said, when they've hosted, they haven't made it out of the 1st weekend. Iirc, the run started with the comeback in Lawrence vs. Kansas. I get/understand that hosting is an honor/season accomplishment, but history to date suggests going on the road might not be a bad thing for them, just please don't end up in Lincoln. More than just an honor, hosting and having home court advantage typically leads to success in the tournament, especially in the early rounds. I’m surprised it hasn’t been more beneficial for Creighton.

Ava Martin is gonna be a star I'm glad there's another hitter emerging to keep teams honest against Sis especially, and take some pressure off of Davis as well. I was a little surprised by the sweep last night, but glad it went that way. I have young kids (who were fans of the game last night!) so we were planning on leaving about 8 anyways, but we stayed for the end.

I'm glad to see that she is spending more time on the left side during the past three matches with Keeley Davis spending more time at RS. There's such a big difference with her on the left side compared to when she was on the right.

So far in her career at least, Martin has the makings of a future star - as long as she's on the left side! Keeley is doing well on the right. I've counted four RS "experiments" so far this season, and Keeley on the right seems most effective to me.

This could be the year Creighton makes a deeper tourney run than Nebraska. The Jays could be Elite 8 material this season. Imagine playing in a match that would send CU to an Omaha Final Four.

However, as far as a natural right side hitter, Jazz, in her very limited minutes, seems to be the only one on the team truly comfortable on the right side. In regard to her serving, I think that Keeley is the best server I've seen at Creighton since I've started following the team in 2014.

We're hoping to see Jaela play in November.

I don’t remember) but it still might be a bit for her I think Jazz is healthy now

I think she rode the bike for some of the Villanova match. I didn't pay close attention during Xavier other to note that she wasn't dressed. What this all means, I have zero idea.

She recently mentioned that she can't jump very high yet.

I've heard from someone who would know that Jaela will not be back on the court in a match until November, at the earliest and if at all.
IMO, best not to count on her and then any contribution she can make would be a bonus. Keeley has filled in so well, when I think of what Jaela could contribute that's missing from the team currently, it's not anything physical - the team needs to get more aggressive at the net and more determined to stop other teams from going on runs - the aggressive and determined mentality is what Jaela brings that is lacking now.
Last year's team had a good block but no middle attack, and I kept waiting and waiting for Reinhardt to return from the back injury and get a middle attack going, and she never did make it onto the court. I'm not going to wait on Jaela this year.
I agree that Jazz is the only natural RS. But then, why isn't she playing?

^^^ Shows what I know. Welcome back, Jaela!!! She was wearing that sweater before and after that, so it caught me off guard. That was a very cool, special moment in Sokol. Wonder if they think she might be close to ready next week, so they gave her the moment at home. Glad I was there for that.
