I bet she considers the B1G and their NLI $ before she signs… Good for her and the Arizona program

NIL didn't keep Jada Williams from decommitting from UCLA WBB and committing to Arizona, though. That girl is already making bank in high school. She and her agent don't seem to think she needs the Big Ten or whatever UCLA is these days. We will see.

If anyone cares, red blue went pretty good today. Zyonna Fellows carried over her hot streak from practice to the game today. Had 17 kills with only 1 error and hit above .400 (was hitting like .600 until the error). Alayna Johnson and Nicole Briggs both looked solid in the middle. Alayna probably has the job right now as the second middle, but Nicole is right there. Has had such a great week this week. Kamaile Hiapo’s passing numbers are back where they were, if not better, which was good. Going with a very middle driven offense so we need that. The others libs were okay. Haven Wray has been fantastic this season in practice and had a great game today too. A little surprised Rubio didn’t suit her up as a libero for a set, but Madison Ellman had the other lib spot on lock. Wanted to see some more terminality (not a word, but you know what I mean) from the pins, but I thought Jaelyn was solid after the first set (the first set is where Sofia definitely shined). Passing for the pins was rough all the way around it felt like. Setting was pretty good. A few double calls. I think all of them run a good offense, I think we just have to be better at setting out of system, whether it’s from a setter or a lib. We also have to take better swings on them too though. It’s definitely Emery’s job, but I think the future is bright with Ana Heath too

Oh! Much improved was Puk’s serve! Very tough serving team overall. still trying to cut down on the errors, but I think the 6 servers will be great. Herman, Maldonado Diaz, and Hiapo have been tough servers and have kept that up. Stubbe’s has improved like I said. Still getting there with Hodge and I genuinely don’t know who the serving sub will be. It would be cool to let Fellows serve in her fifth year, but it’s very likely we’ll still have a sub. Caraccio was the one last year, but I have an inkling it might be Ana Heath with her topspin serve, or if we want something less error-prone and more consistent, it’ll probably go back to a DS.

If we can run the middles and open it up for the pins, I think that is how we win.

This is a really good article, Kim. Thanks. Thanks! I enjoy doing these recruiting articles. I have done several for softball and women's basketball, but this was the first one for volleyball. The kids (and their parents) are usually excited about doing them so they are fun to do.

great stuff Kim! like the transparency in the Plum situation, could’ve easily just not said anything. Glad everyone got to see the Zy we got to see the past two weeks!

I like what he said about Plum, as well. I thought he would tell me something because we have a good relationship, but I didn't know exactly what it would be. I was happy with the way it went. So thrilled for Zyonna!

AZ finishes the weekend 3-0. Good start to the season, getting a lot of their players playing time.

I was disappointed with the cats this weekend. Pins were ineffective and passing was inconsistent against lower level teams. Middles were good when they got the ball but they won’t be able to carry AZ. Hopefully they can step it up!

Middles were good when they got the ball but they won’t be able to carry AZ. Hopefully they can step it up! Agreed. Hodge's numbers specifically were not good after the first game. The middles had good numbers though, and Stubbe and Maldonaldo did their job. Sometimes teams play as well as they need to, which they did. But agreed they will need to step it up with better competition.
