She could probably bring a volunteer on and promote, but that's not pressing. They got by in the spring without Gwen the last few years. She goes home. Far more important to hire the other paid AC and make her decision about Chan. What’s your gut feeling about Chan? Will he be on staff next year? I think so. I think Rita might find it difficult to fire him less than a year after he was hired.

Not an auspicious beginning for Charita.

I was a little bit surprised that she went with an older coach there, but she and Dietre are involved in Arizona HP together so it's probably comfortable for her. I think Arizona could use at least one young, up-and-comer type on staff. Hopefully with the paid positions that will happen.

The story of her hire has had the sense of a redemption arc, but one that also seems defined by a sense of personal disappointment and perhaps mistrust of others. It seems preferable to have projected a vision, direction and sense of moving forward through the announcement of her formal staff. I see the announcement of Dietre first—as a volunteer!—as protecting her flank rather than projecting forward. Not very familiar with the assistant who wasn’t retained, but the optics don’t seem good given her own arc, and that optic could have been avoided, or surpassed, entirely by unveiling her staff choices, which would intrinsically gives a sense of direction. That may be an inaccurate reading of the situation, but on the surface at least, it doesn’t seem like a well-thought out game plan as yet.

Not an auspicious beginning for Charita. Agreed, it’s gonna be a rough couple years possibly I think we’re going to see Dave was a pretty good X & O coach, just couldn’t lead good team chemistry other than year to year fixes.

Charita did not fire him. He left on his own terms.

Maybe Rita was just waiting until the other two coaches were hired for an official announcement? Either way, this program is not a big social media presence and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change with Rita.
Any leads on who’s leading in the clubhouse for the other two coaching spots? It’s almost been a month.

When there are not 2 other full time members on staff or extenuating circumstances, they are allowed to go out. Another example this weekend was Colorado's Tech Coordinator is also recruiting due to the other assistant being on maternity I believe.
