Some pretty good season ticket numbers brewing for them. Was already record breaking numbers a month ago Rita has done a great job of promoting the program. She does a lot of social media stuff. People are excited about the transfers and the recruiting. She's doing a lot of things that Adia Barnes did to raise the profile of Arizona women's basketball. Now, she's got a win like Adia has to maintain that interest. Oh, I forgot to note that Kylie Wong is now listed as setter/DS on the roster instead of DS/L. She set in HS but I'd imagine she's undersized to do that at the D1 level. |

I am not in Tucson right now, so I won't get to talk to him or Rita until at least next week, but she got her another young guy and, as expected, someone to coach setting. Duhoux attended the same juco that assistant coach Ryan Windisch attended and coached. He spent one year there, his sophomore year at another OC juco, then transferred to Hawai'i. Has been coaching club.

if it makes you feel any better, thats more of the norm than the exception :/ (unfortunately) I am sure that's true. Unfortunately, most programs probably don't get the kind of coverage that necessitates it (although letting fans know would still be a good thing). Arizona does get the kind of coverage that neccesitates it, though. The communication department knows I provide as much coverage as their access and information allow. I may be one of the few people in the country who covers volleyball this way, but they know it's the case here locally that they have a dedicated beat writer who treats it just like basketball or softball. (And those are huge deals in Tucson.) They also know that this is a slow time of the year for me, so I would be even more prone to writing about it. I have been begging for an interview to talk about Jordan Wilson since she signed. With Rita trying to open up the program to the fans more, this is a great opportunity to hype Sofia. So bummed. Sorry for the rant. It's just been an annoying summer dealing with comms. |
