I think starck has gotten the most recent nod but Carlie was #1 for the first couple rankings before she dropped because of injury Do you happen to know who on the coaching staff is primarily responsible for the setter training? Steven Duhoux, former Hawaii men’s setter

Adrianna Bridges looks like she’s signed, we are just waiting on a graphic from the social media accounts. This seems like a really solid class that will have ample opportunity to start right away.
I’m really hoping Carlie is as good as advertised. We really need her in serve receive and it feels like there will be a lot of pressure on her early. Adrianna looks legit out of the middle. From what I’ve seen online, she’ll be ready offensively but will need to work on her blocking.
Anyone know anything about Avery Scoggins? I’ve only found a couple of games online and I’m hoping someone has a better overall feel for her setting.

AZ adding sone strength for next year, but biggest concern now is a strong libero!

AZ adding sone strength for next year, but biggest concern now is a strong libero! Definitely need that libero! If Sofia and Hodge leave hopefully we can find another pin who can pass and play defense. I know I quoted you but can you or anyone ease my concerns about Carlie’s offensive capabilities? I know she’s highly ranked, but I worry about her ability to score consistently at this level. She seems to be more about finesse than power.

October was crazy with three sports I cover in regular season and one in practice season, but it's finally slowing down. I didn't put this article out on Wednesday because I was too busy with multiple sports' signing days and I wanted to talk to Carlie Cisneros for the article. Arizona was also waiting for Adrianna Bridges to get her paperwork in, and I didn't want to write about just two of the three. This piece also includes Rita's plans for the portal. Essentially, five players have to go if Sofia and Jaelyn decide to return. Sofia is thinking about going pro. I have suspicions that Jaelyn will be back, but I have not asked her yet. One of those who goes would likely be Joy Galles, who is a senior with a covid year; Rita hasn't mentioned her as a possibility to return. She has only talked about Sofia and Jae. The other 4 would be players who are currently juniors or younger. Rita's only carrying 18 players next year, and she wants 2 transfers (MB and L) to go with her 3 high school recruits.

They quit or transferred. That's how she handles it. Some left after spring for that reason

I know nothing about professional volleyball but she’s a career .196 hitter who can’t play defense. Will the sub limits go against her?

She won't have the level of prospects she dreams of right now, but she’s also willing to go AU if she can.I think Deitre's in her ear about how much her defense needs to improve. Sofia brought it up after today's game. I could see her listening to that and returning to work on it. On the other hand, she also said that the year was really hard on her as an individual. Does she want to try again?

I think Jaelyn will, just because of her relationship situation, so if Sofia does too, where does that leave our pin situation? we’ll have Carlie, Jordan, Jaelyn, and Sofia. will we run a 6-2? will Carlie be a DS? that seems rich. maybe she could be libero like Brooke was her freshman year LMAO.

Yeah, I don't think Jaelyn will be a hard sell. Even before, I know she liked being close to her mom. With the situation now, she has even more reasons to stay. I think that's why Rita mostly talked about having to recruit Sofia to come back; Jaelyn doesn't really need the coach to make the case. As for the pin situation, when Carlie first committed, I asked her about the possibilities of Sofia and Jaelyn (and, at the time, Puk) all still being around when she was a freshman. She told me she did not care. She thought she could help regardless.

I’m worried about how she’ll develop if she’s not even hitting her first season. a lot rides in the short future on how good Carlie is.

I just don’t know if having Sofia come back is the right strategy. She is our most talented attacker, but struggles with consistency. Do we really want to give her a scholarship that could be used for another position of need? A libero that can impact the game, or a middle who can actually block? Sofia has been in college for four years, her defense isn’t going to take some massive jump. If she transfers and finally puts it all together, good for her and I’ll happily eat that crow. I just don’t think Rita can afford to keep putting her trust in these pins and get where she needs/wants to be.
