I know that the top three (CP, UH, UCSB) and UCSB was the only program that beat UH last year. I do hope LBSU, and CSUF can up their programs also, that would be great for the BWC in all. (Going out on the limb and say UCSB and CP will be the top two) CP has a good team with them @ one hitter coming back from her injury, and Stockman. I'm not sure but UCSB has all their players coming back from last season. I still am pulling for UH to be in the group and prove me wrong.

Going into next season, it looks to me that UCSB should be the favorite. If Maia comes back close to her previous form Cal Poly should be very close. Hawaii has not improved their roster so I will put them behind both UCSB and Poly. Of the remaining teams LBSU has improved their roster the most so I have them 4th but if the team gels under their new coach they could be title contenders. I do not see any other conference team making a push next year outside of UCI. They have two of the conferences best players but I have not heard anything about their roster additions.

I think UH still will be amongst the top two contenders in the conference. They return almost the entire starting lineup. And will now have a very trained Amber Igiede that’ll be apart of the national team this summer. Also most players on the team will be veterans and bring back a lot of experience being that it is their 3rd or 4th year for the next season.

I’d be stoked if the rest of the big west can win majority of their OOC games. And hopefully be apart of post conference too! That’ll look good for future big west recruits

Beach:
Setter: Meyer (Fr), transfer from BYU Tia Chavira (Jr), starting setter last year, also plays Opp & Serving
Opp: Kennedy (Jr) All Big West 1st Team Maura Hayes (Soph), also sub setter Chavira
OH: Chacon (Grad-Sr) Florida Xfer - all around, great back-row player O'Sullivan (Grad-Sr) SDSU - All Mountain West, 0.261 on 4 kps (Kash was 0.240 on 4 kps) Nembhard (Jr) 6'1" Kansas, All Big 12 rookie Starr Williams (RS- Frosh) 6'3", looked better in spring Jordan (soph) Martinez (RS-Sr), has had injuries, 3.8kps, 0.254 in 2019 Stone (Jr.)
DS: Giambi, Soph DeLaCruz, Sr Chacon, Jr, Purdue xfer
Libero: Hoff, Jr
MB: Bacon, Soph, Schwarzenbach, Gr-Sr, Nebraska Xfer
probably left out a few. LB will be (ok, should be) improved at every single position; arguably some might disagree with the OH1 losing Kash, however the depth and OH2 should be better, Chacon alone brings a solid passing all-around OH2 player, and the OH1 position especially O'Sullivan can be more consistnet and thus more effective. a lot more depth in the OHs and back-row, the block will be improved, if Hildebrand can coach better receiving from this deep group of OHS and back-row players, LB could be pretty good.
depth at MB probably gonna be the biggest concern, to have a back-up for a solid starting 2.
it's hard to see how this mix of solid returnees, and some quality transfers doesn't challenge for a Big West title.

I think I am more excited about Hawai'i Men's Volleyball in 2023 than Wahine Volleyball 2022. Can't wait for the Men's season to start again.

CAL POLY is going to run away with the BWC Championship in 2022-2023!
They return everyone plus All American - All Conference First Team Maia Dvoracek and sophomore-to-be Peyton Dueck. Dueck, POLY's starting libero in 2021-2022,...just completing having a tremendous beach VB season.

The latest transfer, Natalie Glenn, from Minnesota was left off your list. She is an athletic 5’10” outside that has very good backrow skills. If she cannot crack the front court in her first year I expect Tyler will use her like Nebraska used Knuckles as an attacking DS. Actually I would not be surprised if she becomes a libero sometime during her Beach career if that is the direction she wants to go.

Van Sickle is obviously a huge loss for Hawai'i but the Wahine still return the top player in the conference in middle Amber Igiede. I think Hawaii's ball control will be very good and its strength will be in the middle with Igiedi and Kiraly. I think they'll be able to work the rightside out (where they have a lot of depth). It sucks that Hawai'i won't have Leoniak, Johnson, and Demirtas but you have to roll with the roster you have. Not sure what to make of the leftsides this year, there's very little depth there but Hawaii's in good hands with Kate Lang.
I'm not putting UCSB at the top. It's a different game when you are the top team in the league (as Hawaii and Cal Poly has found out). Teams play their best against the best. Long Beach is the most interesting with their new coaches and players. I think they may stumble out of the gate but will be battling for the championship at the end. And Maia will be back for Poly but you're never the same player after an ACL injury and hers sounded especially bad. The Big West is definitely up for grab this year but I know that Robyn will have her team ready to defend their title.

Not to leave out Riley wagoner who was starting to shine towards the later part of last season. She also had extra practice with beach this spring so I’m excited to see her hit. Hopefully Akana and/ or the transfer of Cowell will be very offensive on the left as well.
