It’s hard to tell about transfers sometimes. Cal Poly had several transfers that were starters on P5 teams last year and they had a disappointing season.

Man, quite the day to start this thread (Larson, the aftermath-fumes of Rockwell, etc.). One thing in the BWC's favor today was the transfers referenced above. BUT, this conference was the one hardest hit by the pandemic the past two years. In 2019, it was the ninth-highest RPI conference. Quite a ways to come back here; it'll be interesting, though, to see CSULB contend with Hawai'i and Poly in the future. Can’t forget UCSB as well, they have a lot of talent returning this fall and was the only team to beat Hawaii twice this past season. I live in Hawai'i & my brother went to CP. I know the conference pretty well. I was referring to the two top-dogs, historically, of the BW (my family calls it Cow Poly).

Callie from Nebraska, Zayna from BYU- who was a top recruit coming out of high school, and Nembhard from K-State. Bench players. Cal poly and Hawaii have gotten better in the past and no it did not elevate the big west conference much. The overrated-ness of Hildrebrand is insane.

bringing in a past all Big 10 frosh and a past all Big 12 frosh, and a top 40 recruit (and yes the setter is still unproven in D1) & yeah, no one is suggesting these are 3 first team AAs, but these are definitely solid potential 1st team Big West caliber type athletes coming from top 10/25 programs, adding in to a core that already had two first team Big West players, and a couple players with some raw athleticsm who didn't play last year if Hawaii had signed these players, the Hawaii thread would be 100 pages alone about it Excellent , like watching local games when I can.

If those 3 are bench players next year, then LB is gonna be making some major noise

Relative to the BW? Absolutely. True! Lol It would be a fantastic scenario to see the Sharks be in contention to make the tournament!!

Can’t wait to see Amber and Callie for LBSU go head to head in a match. Also, I’m hopeful that the big west will pull some good upsets in the preseason next fall!

Manifesting 4 big west teams in the tournament for next season lol! The conference as a whole will need to do a much better job of scheduling matches they can win. Also - 20 game conference season isn't going to help. Here is the non-conference records for the BW teams last year. This wasn't just the bottom of the conference bringing down the rest of the conference - look at those records from the top teams in the conference. Hawaii (3-5) UCSB (4-8) Cal Poly (2-9) Long Beach State (6-5) CSU Bakersfield (7-1) UC Irvine (7-3) Cal State Fullerton (3-4) UC Davis (4-7) UC San Diego (3-8) Cal State Northridge (1-9) UC Riverside (4-6)

Bench players on teams that were already stacked to begin with, so it's not necessarily taking away from their own talent. This is giving them an opportunity to showcase that instead of sitting on the sidelines and in the process, this does boost the level of play for the conference, even if it's a slight boost. This will also serve as a reminder for teams who do have positions that are stacked, that opportunities do arise elsewhere if play time is something those players on the side are looking for. NC State is another program on the rise just by the big name transfers they got, and they haven't even played yet.
