Right. I remember when one-and-done players started to dominate college basketball after the NBA instituted an age limit. Coach K still did well. That is one sample. Keep going. Records of B1G volleyball head coaches before and after Covid are strongly correlated.

You are making inference where you should not. You are the one who said there is no predictive power from pre-covid time to post-covid time. Not me. What is your evidence that there is no correlation between pre Covid success and post Covid success? The recent B1G standings are not randomly distributed post Covid in comparison to pre Covid. So there is some predictive power. The same is true of other conferences. How strong is the predictive power? I don't have a clean measure of it, but it's clear that it's not zero. If you disagree perhaps you want to place some bets on team success for the next season? The only "inference" I've made is the simple one that, in general to some non-zero degree, pre covid team success correlates positively with post covid team success. This is not some genius hypothesis. It's the denial of your so far undefended claim that there is no predictive power extrapolating from pre Covid results. I didn't say anything about causation. Everyone knows that correlation alone is not causation.

This is not some genius hypothesis. It's the denial of your so far undefended claim that there is no predictive power extrapolating from pre Covid results. I didn't say anything about causation. Everyone knows that correlation alone is not causation. Explain how they are not randomly distributed? Well, there are the Big Ten standings from 2019 and 2021: 2019 2021 Wisconsin 18-2 Wisconsin 17-3 Nebraska 17-3 Nebraska 16-4 Minnesota 17-3 Minnesota 15-5 Penn State 17-3 Purdue 15-5 Purdue 14-6 Ohio State 15-5 Michigan 13-7 Penn State 13-7 Illinois 11-9 Illinois 12-8 Ohio State 8-12 Michigan 11-9 Michigan State 6-14 Maryland 7-13 Northwestern 5-15 Northwestern 7-13 Maryland 5-15 Michigan State 4-16 Iowa 4-16 Indiana 4-16 Indiana 3-17 Iowa 4-16 Rutgers 2-18 Rutgers 0-20 That doesn't look random to me. For the most part, the good teams in 2019 were still the good teams in 2021, accounting for some small record shifts that are normal. Ohio State is an exception, but there's a logical explanation for that (i.e. that they were underperforming, so they made a coaching change).

I'll be curious who she selects as assistants. Any relation to the new Marquette AC opening?

Anyone think Alisha Glass Childress would come to South Bend? That would be exciting.

That would be exciting. wouldn't they both coach setters? not sure that move would sense I know everyone thinks that since Salima was an AA setter, that it was her coaching focus as an assistant at previous stops. Can't speak for PSU, but when she was at Texas, she was given the full offense, entirely herself, not just the setters. And she produced, IMO, the two best offensive teams Texas has seen, in the 2009 National Runner-Up and the 2012 National Championship. I'm not sure anyone is, but if you're questioning this hire, just know that she is a GRAND SLAM hire for Notre Dame.
