Or, it could be as easy as they sat down and the new head coach said we need to re-align duties and I need someone with..... IMO every move doesn't have to mean friction and discord. Dude, you're firing someone you've worked with for several years. Whose been a big part of PSU volleyball and has a young family. It’s tough

What mess with the football program are you referring to? I thought it was pretty clear, but the whole way the Paterno era came to an end with Sandusky and the indictments and the lawsuits and all that. The Paterno era came to and end many years after Paterno forced Sandusky to retire. It was the University administration that gave Sandusky emeritus status and let him hang around campus after he "retired". Paterno and the football program parted ways with Sandusky in 1999. Paterno was fired (unjustly) in 2011. The football program was never the issue and played no part in Sandusky's crimes.

The only thing I know about Penn State besides their volleyball and the whole mess they had with their football program is that a bunch of people I work with studied there. They have one of the top (or maybe the very top) acoustical engineering programs in the country, and I work in the Noise, Vibration, and Emissions group at my company. All the kids in my high school that went into engineering went to Penn State, except one who went to Cal Tech, but that's similar, right? (his family was from California too). They all went on to excellent careers in Engineering or academia. I actually would not suggest CalTech as an engineering school. Science? You bet. But it's not what I think of when I think engineering. I'm not saying you couldn't get a good engineering education there, but it's not where I would go if you know you wanted to study engineering.

With absolutely no inside info, I can imagine Dennis, who has been a HC, telling Katie, who had previously been a HC: You deserve to staff yourself up, start with a clean slate. He's a classy guy from what I've seen. Just a couple years back, he was only on the staff as a volunteer (after UVA). I think he's agile and will do fine.

Obviously he only asked for "clarification" so he could make his rebuttal post. We all know what happened, for the most part. It was a matter of public record once it got into the courts. I was trying not to rehash it, and I still am trying, but it's a whole herd of elephants sitting in the room when you talk about PSU athletics.

I'm late to the party... just got my VT account finally approved.
What I was told by various people close'ish to the situation is that RR advocated for KSC to get the HC position. Whether she was his first choice or his choice since other options weren't available, they would not say though. Personally, I think she represents PSU extremely well and wish her great luck. Yes, her previously HC experience wasn't stellar, but I have to think that she will be a better HC now having worked under (and mentored by) RR.
All I want to now know is who is going to be her assistants. Will she bring back fellow PSU legends like Arielle Wilson and Alyssa D'Errico? I would personally love to see that combination... and what recruitment pitch that would make: "Train at PSU. Every member of our staff is a NCAA champion". Or could Meghan Keck (who was an athlete at UIC when KSC was an assistant) be heading to State College?

For the experts (seriously):. Is it beneficial to have an all PSU alumnae staff?

And from what I’ve heard is getting out of college coaching. Things certainly could have changed, but I don’t believe Keck is heading that way.

Tara, his wife, isn’t with the Lax program anymore. I believe that she currently works for the Rec Hall facilities management folks.

BTW I saw on the jobs thread that the AC position has been posted. Only lists it as one position. Sure hope it's two. Also, it looks like they've listed Cam Davidson's old position...heard he moved west somewhere.
