And JFO was a very good hire then.

So if they hired for continuity why they did lose so many players?

No way did it receive less enthusiasm. She also wasn’t taking on a program with the history and prestige of PSU.

Am I alone in feeling that Rose’s statement at then end of the press release is somewhat tepid? Please, what or where are Rose's comments? I don't see any quote from him on any in any of the press I see regarding this announcement. Thanks.

She very well may do a fine job, but have you ever seen a hire met with less enthusiasm? That’s disappointing in and of itself. I’m not sure this hire energizes team, fan base, potential recruits. JFO Disagree. I think at first people wondered why a “club coach” was getting the job, but they were quickly reminded of JFO’s time at Illinois, a successful tenure. Also, OSU was not expected to hire a huge name.

Katie might just well be the perfect hire for Penn State in the new college climate.
I have a feeling we are in good hands here.
Thanks everyone for the concern.

She might be a look at the future, when women dominate the head coaching jobs in Women’s Volleyball. Women’s Basketball in earlier years had mostly male head coaches. Now the opposite is true. No reason to believe the same thing won’t happen in Women’s Volleyball. Maybe she can convince some recruits to come to PSU to support a female head coach. Not a good reason to hire a coach. if your college team is a powerhouse, you need the best person for the job, regardless of sex.

I guess we can read thing differently, but compare to Cook’s statement for LBSU: “Long Beach State's tradition is as rich as any program in the country, and he has a chance to make that an elite program again. Tyler knows that, and he has a great plan for them to succeed.” Or what Hugh and Hambly said about Rockwell at ND: und.com/salima-rockwell-named-notre-dame-volleyball-coach/Maybe Rose is just more restrained.

What's odd is that neither of the coaches she worked under (Rose / Elliott) were quoted, but two she didn't work with were.
