RecruitingRegsitry.com and RichKern.com under new ownership (sorta) July 22, 2005
After owning and running RichKern.com since 1999, I find the success has forced me to make a change. What started as a couple hundred dollars a year fun hobby grew into a several thousand dollars a year full-time project in addition to my real full-time job. I’m still enjoying working on it but I am going to need financial support to keep it going and hence, the change.
RecruitingRegistry.com will still actively support the thousands of athletes continue their volleyball career through college scholarships and hundreds of college coaches in the recruiting and support process as it has in the past. RichKern.com will still have the mission of promoting women’s volleyball by helping athletes decide which program might be the best fit to further their education process through volleyball as it has in the past. Rich Kern will still be responsible for the running and operation of both sites as I have in the past. And finally, you will still have the benefit of having all the information you need to supply your craving for volleyball facts and figures as you have in the past.
However, this will require YOUR support through YOUR donations. I have formed a nonprofit corporation (RichKern.com, Inc.) that will be responsible for financing the sites. The goal of this new corporation is only to help cover the hardware, software, and promotional expenses needed to keep this effort possible. There is no money in the budget for salaries so this change is not an attempt to help Rich Kern become wealthy.
IRS Form 1023 has been filled out and sent in to the IRS. This is an application to obtain tax-exempt status through the long-term goals of the sites in promoting further education and amateur volleyball athletics. However, nothing is guaranteed at this point so as you send in your donations, you should assume they are not tax exempt. If that changes after you have sent in your donation, you will be notified so you can claim (and make even a larger donation) it for your next tax statement.
The new 2005 site will be opening in a few days and the donation feature will be ready at that time. Until then, just think about how much you have used the services of RichKern.com and RecruitingRegistry.com in the past and how much you would miss them if they were no longer available.
Please do your part to help support RichKern.com, Inc.
We ALL use Rich Kern diligently from this site and just doing research. A few dollars from each of us will really help his cause and keep volleyball information flowing! If each of us at Volley Talk donated just a little, that could end up being enough to cover his costs and keep him inspired to help us out!
Thanks Rich!
