ISU has beaten Big Ten teams in the past, so it isn't some huge talent level gulf between the two conferences. It is a huge gulf…an ocean of difference between the talent of the players in the Valley or at ISU and the top 8 teams in the B1G. . . Coaches have to do what they have to do when they take over a program, but filling a B1G roster with ISU or Tulane players may not be the way to go if you want to be competitive. . . We’ll see how it goes… Being at the B1G school also means that you can convince some players who are tweeners, those who can help in the B1G but not dominate and those who would not consider ISU to commit. A narrow window of talent to be sure, but, they are out there. And then there is the magical portal.

Is it certain that Tyler Hildebrand will be a good head coach either? Silly Wiswell, of course HE will be. 😎 Well sure. Because he was a head indoor volleyball NCAA coach before, right? I mean, there's 43 pages on a thread stating his awesomeness and how it would be great if he could transfer some players. Tell me again the indoor D1 head coaching gig he had? But over here it's, well the Big Ten isn't the Valley. Did Tamas get this garbage moving from AC to Head coach? I don't think so.

I also think we will see more players enter the portal after spring season. Once they figure out where they will be in the lineup they will look to move elsewhere where they can play.

Not much, that's for sure. But that raises the question of whether she is capable of "coaching up" talent to be competitive in the Big 10. That's not a certainty by any means as yet. Is it certain that Tyler Hildebrand will be a good head coach either? I don't think it is certain, and I have said so. The difference is he has been an assistant in the Big 10, but he has never been a head coach. In a mid-major, I'm not sure he has to "coach up" quite as much, but he still will have a learning curve as a head coach, including all of the other non-volleyball specific functions that come with it.

Great interview for Leah on Volleyball Magazine!! She seems smart and fun!! She is phenominal. If you like this one, you should go back and watch the one she did about a month ago on Volleyball Mag while she was still at ISU. She seem so genuine.

Does the team practice everyday in the spring season? No. How many days do they practice? Is there lifting involved? Any games?

How many days do they practice? Is there lifting involved? Any games? You get X number of "full" practice days per academic year. Can't remember the exact number. After a full fall season, teams don't have enough days left to practice all spring. I would be surprised if there was a team that didn't lift. Most teams play 3-4 games. These are essentially exhibitions and do not count toward any records. You are limited to playing schools within a certain area (400 miles?) around your location.

Zoe Nunez from Notre Dame and Aliyah Moore from Illinois State announced transfers this week. MSU is getting there- hoping to get a good OH addition, so thin in that area. But glad to see the pieces moving!
