Poljan has been dealing with what appears to be a concussion. She won't be available this weekend. Nunez has a knee problem but it sounds like she's out of her brace and it's not a long term thing but look for Bishop in a 5-1. Iosia is fine.

First ranked opponent, I believe. Probably important to have reasonable expectations. Hoping the team can continue to improve as a team and as individuals while staying competitive tonight against the Huskers.

Leah mentioned at her press conference that she was missing both her senior middles so it sounds like an injury. It was disappointing to see Poljan with her earplugs and hat still not suited up. That was her uniform last year when she was concussed so they'll (rightfully so) take their time with her. It would be good to get both of them back just from a defensive standpoint. Nils has done a good job offensively but Nebraska's middles hit about .600 against us last night. Also good to see Nunez get to play a few points last night. Looks like they wanted to give her a little run and see how she responds.

Poljan is back! Currently has four kills in first set against Indian in first set.

A little bit of a disappointing loss at Indiana. Obviously need to clean up the service errors. 16 errors against only 4 aces against Indiana and 9 errors against a single ace vs. Michigan are points we just can't give away against B1G schools. Great to get Poljan back as that should solidify the middles the rest of the way. I like that Leah does not get wedded to an outside and is willing to use others if the starter is not getting it done. It was nice to see Evie step up and get some good swings after losing the starting nod to Selin at UM. Headed in the right direction, now just need to translate the experience to some wins.

Leah has some interesting Polish players. Kulig (MB) plays in the second division in Poland. She played T'Ara Ceasar's team last week (and was MVP with 6 kills and 3 blocks) They also signed Karolina Staniszewska (OH). She plays on the same team as Kulig. She was best OH/top scorer at the CEV U19 championships and the U19 European Olympic festival, highlighted by a 37 points match against Serbia www-old.cev.eu/Competition-Area/MatchStatistics.aspx?ID=61982 |
