I totally agree with this statement...I think its more than the middle not being good...I think the bottom is getting better. Lots of teams were mentioned previously in this thread but let's not forgot about Clemson. Let's break it down. They have an 11-9 record so far. They lost to Pitt, Louisville, and GT in 3 but they are top 10 teams. Five of their nine match losses were pushed to 5 sets. They obviously need to work on finishing. They lost to WF by only a handful of points and will get another shot at them at the end of their season. Two of their early losses they had 3 starters out which included their setter. Circling back to the original posters comment, I really think those teams typically toward the bottom of the ACC have shown that they can compete. It has been fun watching the ACC teams battle it out this season. It is definitely nice to see the bottom getting better. It is not fun to see the middle be soooo much worse than last year. Last year was fun because the ACC was legit very competitive and got teams in the tournament because of it. This year just seems like such a let down with the severely under-performing middle

Guys all that matters is that Miami is bad OK. At this point I gotta ask: Did Miami steal your lunch money at some point in the past? Why do you hate them so much? My guess would be you're the alumni of one of their rivals. UF? FSU? But I just don't know.

I really thought NCSU was going to break through. They have the same easy schedule as last season (Only play LOU, Pitt and GT once). If they don't get an at large this season it will be way tougher next year. The are 11-8 and they were 11-8 thru 19 matches last year. Brand new team with more talent and same result. Freshman Brizard has had a great year but this might be a case study for how reloading a team with "big time" transfers might now always work. Two Texas transfer haven't panned out. Williams has only played in less than half the sets and Cabello is the non starting side of the 6/2 and there is no way Slabe wants to run a 6/2. Bukilic is hitting .190 and Loeniak .154 the latter playing half the time. Thankfully Hernandez has played up to her typical standard or this team would be cooked. On paper they will have two sure losses to GT and LOU. But they also tend to struggle with the Triangle schools, which are next up. At Duke tonight and home against UNC on Friday. If they drop either of those I don't see how they get in with 11 loses and to be honest I think they probably lose another match for 12 loses. RPI is 64 Massey is 68 currently Well that didn’t take long. Pack looked terrible last night. No way they make it in. Dont worry....I am sure the 2 setters will turn into All Americans against UNC tonight. *UGH*

UF off for weekend so hopped over to FSU to see some ACC play. I do have a few questions. Is FSU improving? Will their level of play help the Gators’ RPI? The ACC is top-heavy. The rest of the conference doesn’t appear to be very good. Virginia Tech is near the bottom or is tied for the basement of the conference. I think only the top three teams are making the tournament. The first set was really competitive and fun to watch. After set 1, it was a very full match. FSU overpowered VT and I would not be surprised if they win every statistical category. Looked like 2 guys were on the VT sideline that were doing the coaching. In looking at the website they have 4 coaches. Where were the others? Not that it would have mattered, FSU cruised late in set one and through the rest of the match.

Not that it would have mattered, FSU cruised late in set one and through the rest of the match. The head coach, Marci Byers, stayed home because of late in her pregnancy.....in which the girls quite enjoyed. Was said to have been the most positive 2 weekends they've had in a long time, despite the losses. Coach Byers continued her path of ridiculousness by putting her Assistant Coach in charge, rather than her Associate Head Coach (who has over 15 years of ACC coaching experience from Duke). Look for another mass exodus from Virginia Tech. #freeCoachB
