Whatever happens......gotta just savor these final games. Jakob, Dimi, Cole, Filip, Kanai and Devon are such a special group who helped us break through that ceiling once again. They will be greatly missed after this. Hopefully it's returning with another NATTY on the plane ride home with them one more time.

Hogland has to be, by far, hands down, the player that has tripped the most or fallen to the ground the most in the sport.

Hogland has to be, by far, hands down, the player that has tripped the most or fallen to the ground the most in the sport. He gets up so high, the momentum of the hard hit ball that he blocks causes him to move backwards and lose his balance. Lol

The wait is so long. More than a week more. I only became active a week or two weeks ago and now addicted to this board. I refresh it every 5-10 minutes for new update. I even check for update in the middle of the night like midnight, 1 or 2 am then hard to go back to sleep after that. 🤣🤣

Jakob Thelle, Charlie Wade repeat as Big West men's volleyball player, coach of year
By Brian McInnis Apr. 25, 2023, Spectrum News Jakob Thelle joined Rado Parapunov as Hawaii players to have won consecutive Big West Player of the Year honors. (Spectrum News/Brian McInnis) Charlie Wade won his second Big West Coach of the Year award. (Spectrum News/Brian McInnis)Excerpts: HONOLULU — Jakob Thelle just wanted to play some volleyball. When he first arrived in the islands out of Tonsberg, Norway, the 6-foot-6 setter joined an already high-level program as someone with senior national team experience and tantalizing physical skills. But, in an early sign of his unassuming mindset, he also had few expectations for himself. Thelle will leave the Rainbow Warriors as one of the most decorated players in program history. On the heels of a repeat Big West tournament championship, Thelle, the tournament’s MVP, repeated as Big West Player of the Year, it was announced Tuesday, and Charlie Wade went back to back as BWC Coach of the Year. ... Thelle pointed out he was not the only one on the team who dealt with injury absences this season. “Charlie’s the captain of the ship, so we follow where he goes,” Thelle said. “He’s been a great coach for all of us, facing all the adversity this season. Being very patient knowing that we’re going to be some ups and downs in the season, of course because we’re never going to be perfect every single night. “Being able to play better as we go, being patient in that process, the while team is wired to the same mentality. And yeah, he’s done incredible work over the years and setting that culture that he’s created along with all the players in the program these past years. He’s really deserving of that award.” Full story: spectrumlocalnews.com/hi/hawaii/sports/2023/04/26/jakob-thelle--charlie-wade-repeat-as-big-west-men-s-volleyball-player--coach-of-year

Hawaii’s Thelle and Wade earn Big West’s top men’s volleyball honors By Jason Kaneshiro 4/25/23, Honolulu Star-Advertiser JAMM AQUINO / JAQUINO@STARADVERTISER.COM Hawaii head coach Charlie Wade talked to setter Jakob Thelle during the second set of a match against Long Beach State on March 17 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. For the second straight year, Hawaii claimed two of the Big West’s major men’s volleyball awards. Rainbow Warrior setter Jakob Thelle repeated as the Big West Player of the Year and Charlie Wade picked up his second consecutive conference Coach of the Year award on Tuesday. UH has claimed the last four Big West Player of the Year awards with Rado Parapunov earning the honor in 2020 and ’21 and Thelle winning the last two. Wade shared the Coach of the Year award last season and was a unanimous pick among his five fellow Big West coaches in this season’s voting. Thelle leads NCAA Division I-II with 10.73 assists per set while leading a UH attack that ranks second in the nation with a .373 hitting percentage. The senior was named the Most Valuable Player of the Big West Men’s Volleyball Championship for the second straight year last weekend after helping the Warriors retain the tournament title. Wade shared the Coach of the Year award with UC Irvine’s David Kniffin last year and earned the honor again after leading the Warriors to a share of the Big West regular-season title and the tournament championship. The Warriors opened Big West play by being swept by Long Beach State, but have won their last 11 matches while dropping three sets along that way. UC Irvine middle blocker Maxim Grigoriev was voted the Big West Freshman of the Year. Grigoriev ranked fourth in the conference with 1.02 blocks per set and had a season-high eight in the Anteaters’ loss to UH in the Big West tournament final on Saturday at the Bren Events Center. UH (28-2) is the second seed in next week’s National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Championship in Fairfax, Va., which comes with a spot in the semifinals on May 4.
