UCLA is well-known academically even internationally, their natty this year will get them even more attention. For which recruiting classes? Hawaii got three big ones for 2024 in Rosenthal, Kearney, and Hazan. They also have Wade for 2025, and seem to be leading the way for Mouclias' younger brother Starvos and Derek Bradford's younger brother as well. Both would come in with even higher credentials than their older siblings. Seems like their recruiting for the next two years is nearly complete. Most of the top 2024's have already verbally committed so this loss isn't going to sway anybody, unless you're suggesting some of the verbals will decommit from UH? TBH, its more likely the 2025s would de-commit, but they only have Wade right now for sure. Hawaii has made four straight championship matches, and have won twice. They are the only constant in the finals since 2019, and they've built a culture and have a fanbase no other program comes close to. I think recruits know what kind of program they are committing to. UCLA is great and all, but Hawaii's clearly positioned themselves to recruit the best domestically and internationally far before this title game... I don’t think anyone is saying this loss is going away recruiting. We were just commenting that UCLA has regularly had the top recruiting classes come in but hasn’t necessarily been what’s pushed them over the edge. I think the work ethic and desire of this Bruin team is what won it for them in the end. And I would say Hawaii and UCLA are both tied in the ability to bring in top caliber foreign recruits. Tbh if anything I see these two in a league of their own when it comes to pulling in the top recruits.

Exactly. And prior to the trifecta of TJ, Ensing, and Tuaniga, Long Beach didn't reach the NCAA finals in 12 yrs. Yea I think with losing Nikolov AND Lawrence before their time and now with Olivier and Holdaway on their way out, I think the Beach will be rebuilding for some time. I think GodBold could eventually be a POY type player but idk if the setting can make that happen for him. Sotiris is kind of average imo Do you see who they are bringing in the next 2 years? They won't go away anytime soon. I'm assured of that.

so who do we have for 2024 season and are the incoming players immediate impact players or need work? UH has a good recruiting class for next year. Not one, but two setters coming in. One of them likely starts, but we’ll see if Sheward gets a shot. Of course the three Moanalua boys; Rodrigues has a chance to play some next season, but I think the other two will need some experience and weight room time. In contention for a foreign OPP of consequence. A few other recruits are in the pipe. Competition in the gym next season should be good. The whole serve received group for UH returns, so that is key. It will be hard to replace Thelle and Dimi. They are so good. But we said the same thing when Worley and Rado graduated. I’m hoping at least one player on the team takes a significant step forward. UCLA will be hard to beat and they should be favorites going into next season. Hawaii is going to have to fight Irvine and maybe LBSU for BW supremacy.

I don’t think it matters much because on top of any inexperienced freshman that may come in, there wasn’t a whole lot of utilization of depth by the Beach and when you try and rebuild with a lot of inexperience, there’s bound to be a decent amount of rockiness to start. Will remain to be seen but at least Hawaii has the opportunity to bridge a year before some major recruits come in with some experienced athletes, just need to make sure this filling the vacated spots in 24 are playing at a high level consistently.

Haven't heard a lot of recruiting news from BWC Teams. Seems like USC, Stanford and Hawaii got some of the top 2024s.

24 hrs, and I'm still sad. Just had to let the VT community know. My entire IG feeds are with USC going back to back to back on the beach...blah blah blah. And 20th title for UCLA blah blah blah...lol That's it, carry on. If it is any consolation, at least UCLA did not win on the beach too! That would have been salt on the wound. It is what it is though. But remember, Hawaii has two national titles now!!! TWO!!!! Think back to 2019, that was sad (for me, anyway). To have come that far, with such a monster team (arguably best team ever?) and then have to go back to the drawing board (AGAIN)…. I honestly thought Hawaii would never win a title. I really did. Things are different though this time around. As I said yesterday, it stings. But not as bad as 2019. Also, too. They made it to the Finals!! That is an accomplishment in it of itself. They beat PSU. They silenced the East coast doubters. Thelle brought home Hawaii’s fourth ever NPOY award (Hawaii RARELY wins one of those). If there is any hope, the team reloads and sneaks up on everyone next year, as Hawaii will be underdogs going into next season. The coaching staff found replacements for the members lost in 2019; there were so many critics of Thelle, Sheward, Hogland, Galloway, etc. in 2020/2021, but hey look how things turned out. Over the past four years, I have learned to trust in the coaching staff.
