Yeah who cares about the ace record. Thelle will go down as the best UH setter ever. Maybe even one of the best setters in the whole NCAA ever. He’s in the league with Yuval and Costas as one of the best players ever in UHhistory. Ace record doesn’t really matter when you are at his level. Rather he get third consecutive championship than own ace record by himself. Thelle is a very good setter and fantastic all around volleyball player BUT he also runs an offense that suits his strengths and hitters that fit him well. He’ll definitely go down as one of the most decorated setters in NCAA history that’s for sure, his resume could be just about unmatched by season’s end. Maybe if he does take the pro indoor route he may end up better at the actual skill of setting but as he is now, he’s doing a fantastic job. Well the offense is really cut and dry tbh. Nothing uber fancy about it. It's a pin heavy offense with the occasional sets to the middle and the occasional Thelle on two. Then you sprinkle in BIC or two and that's what you get from UH. I think what sets Thelle apart is his ability to shoulder a lot of the burden and pressure that comes with matches like this. And in a way, he actually plays better when under that limelight and pressure. Like when i see Jakob on the floor, i and everyone just has deep trust that this guy can do it. He brings absolute calm and steadiness on the court that it's tremendous to bare witness. Truly a remarkable career whatever happens on Saturday and I know we all will miss him immensely.

Shout out to Sheward. I bagged on him last season when he started playing libero. It was rough in the beginning. He worked hard and by the end of last season he was playing at a decent level- enough for the team to win the championship. This season he’s been playing great. He was passing dimes tonight against the tough PSU serving when both Chaz and Spyros were having some difficulties. He was steady force and played like a true libero. Way to go Brett. 100% correct. Sheward had several key (and clutch) passes last night to get Hawaii out of some bad rotations for SR. Major kudos to Sheward.

What actual skill of setting is he deficient in? Thelle runs one of the fastest offenses in the country. He gets all his hitters involved and has great connections with all of them especially Voss and Dimi. He’s the master of isolating his hitters with one blocker, no blockers or two blockers with seams in the block. That’s why UH has the second best hitting percentage in the nation. He sets against the flow. He can flip an accurate backset from anywhere on the court. He is cerebral in his approach. His hands are good. He pulls off at least a couple sets a match where you’re baffled how he did it. Yeah you can always keep improving and getting better but I’m not seeing where he’s missing a lot of setting skill.

Why are you picking fights with people at a time like this? When hawaii just won this intense semifinal match to get back to the final to attempt a rare 3-peat! Refocus ur adrenaline! We should all just be enjoying the moment! I liked that you tried to keep wahinefan in check b/c he was posting just downright deplorable stuff. But this 'feud' with raian? He was just posting harmless, celebratory stuff ...

An example of calling out a ridiculous post is what I did with wahinefan. I could care less who this poster is, especially given his/her username. Will do the exact same to you, or anyone. By the way, please do not patronize me with regards to “keeping wahinefan in check.” C. Please reread my dialogue with the poster you have chosen to highlight to make your point, and then get back to me on exactly what you are trying to say to me.

What are the chances that Thelle will end his career in an improbable three way tie for the UH career aces record? I’d love to see a new record, but at this point I wouldn’t be too surprised. Believe it or not there are a few… okay maybe just one Hawaii fan in particular who will probably be in shambles, not if Hawaii loses in the Final, but if Thelle does not get another ace to break the record. Apparently, they would rather have Thelle break the record over the team winning the Championship. Go figure. This is not it? 😂🫶🏼

Not gonna ruin the thread by taking it further. You're reply just proved my point anyway.
