Just watched the post match news conference.
The feeling of disappointment was palpable. Really, the moment stings. But looking at the bigger picture, this team really did so much for the entire program. As I mentioned on another thread, this loss stings as much as it did in 2019. But it does not sting as bad after having two titles won…. versus 2019 when the ceiling still had not yet been broken. Team should have NOTHING to be down about!

What a match! Disappointed in the outcome but you have to hand it to UCLA as they played a terrific match. That kid Rowan is really special! As for UH, I'm super proud of our team and will definitely miss this team especially Jakob. He's a once in a lifetime player. Not sure if we will see another setter of his caliber play for UH in my lifetime. We as Hawaii fans have been super lucky to have gotten to witness one of the best teams we've ever had. GO BOWS!

Starting with the Joe Worsley lead team, to Jakob Thelle lead team, that Championship environment has been set. Who knows, next year's team may just start something that this year's team was not able to do, 3-peat. That is the culture and environment that the Joe Worsley, and Jakob Thelle lead teams has started.

The thing about Jakob that makes his journey extra special is the dedication and hard work he put into becoming the player that he is. He started as a serving sub. Then lost his starting job in 2020. Then returned in 2021 as one of the best setters in the country. In 2022 he was arguably the best players in the country to 2023, the unanimous POY.

Got an email from the UH Athletic dept inviting the public to Stan Sheriff Center tonight at 7pm to welcome our boys home. The bus from the airport should be arriving shortly after. I hope a lot of the UH fans show up tonight. I'll be there!

An unfortunate end, will influence where recruits go. Hoping Hawaii gets an offensive weapon to replace Mouchlias for next season

And prior to the trifecta of TJ, Ensing, and Tuaniga, Long Beach didn't reach the NCAA finals in 12 yrs.

Yea I think with losing Nikolov AND Lawrence before their time and now with Olivier and Holdaway on their way out, I think the Beach will be rebuilding for some time. I think GodBold could eventually be a POY type player but idk if the setting can make that happen for him. Sotiris is kind of average imo

The past few years for UCLA haven’t hurt them from bringing in top recruiting classes UCLA is well-known academically even internationally, their natty this year will get them even more attention. For which recruiting classes? Hawaii got three big ones for 2024 in Rosenthal, Kearney, and Hazan. They also have Wade for 2025, and seem to be leading the way for Mouclias' younger brother Starvos and Derek Bradford's younger brother as well. Both would come in with even higher credentials than their older siblings. Seems like their recruiting for the next two years is nearly complete. Most of the top 2024's have already verbally committed so this loss isn't going to sway anybody, unless you're suggesting some of the verbals will decommit from UH? TBH, its more likely the 2025s would de-commit, but they only have Wade right now for sure. Hawaii has made four straight championship matches, and have won twice. They are the only constant in the finals since 2019, and they've built a culture and have a fanbase no other program comes close to. I think recruits know what kind of program they are committing to. UCLA is great and all, but Hawaii's clearly positioned themselves to recruit the best domestically and internationally far before this title game...

24 hrs, and I'm still sad. Just had to let the VT community know. My entire IG feeds are with USC going back to back to back on the beach...blah blah blah. And 20th title for UCLA blah blah blah...lol
That's it, carry on.
