Chaz is who he is. I don't think he is AA level. He is a good compliment to Spyros and Dimi. Chaz is still pretty good and better than many OHs in the country but cannot compare him to Spyros.
Spyros is on his country's national team. Chaz is not there. I still love Chaz and wouldn't trade him for anyone else but I don't expect him to put up big numbers all the time.
My hope is he can step up in big matches. Be a big match kind of guy and play your best when face the best.

I really like Chakas. He’s a total package. Makes me wonder if he’s better than one of the all-time greats SVT. He is not. Don't get carried away now.

I didn’t mean my comment as undervaluing SVT’s contributions to the program. SVT played along a lot of the all-time greats like Rado, Worsley brothers, and Gasman. It feels like he didn’t stand out as much like Chakas is with this current team. I don’t know, it feels like I enjoy Chakas’ all around talent so much. Also, iirc, SVT was originally an Opp and he had to transition to the outside on his soph year. Chakas was an OH from the start.

I love how this team seems to always have another gear and looks so calm when they need to get to the next level. I haven’t seen a Hawaii volleyball team (men’s or womens) like this before.

I love how this team seems to always have another gear and looks so calm when they need to get to the next level. I haven’t seen a Hawaii volleyball team (men’s or womens) like this before. I agree. The calmness on the court and just the sense that this team will find a way to prevail is outstanding. They don't panic, they don't get too uber emotional. If they are down in the set, they just keep plugging away and find a way and the will to win. And that will prove beneficial most especially against teams that just brings with them a lot of emotionally charged energy on their side of the court...like a UCLA, Pepperdine or LBSU for example. Hawaii can sustain that concentration and calm attitude, I love their chances to get that 3-peat. Note: But as much as I love the win streaks this team has garnered, I feel like at some point this season it needs to be broken. Just because when this team is throat punch or gut checked by a key loss(es) is when this team seems to dig deep within in its core, turn it up a few notches and FINISH what they start. So if and when that happens, I certainly won't be Mad at it. Tbh, being undefeated won't serve them at all going into the post season. But nevertheless.... GO BOWS!

IS UH first string setter out for the season? Nope they were just resting him this series and I'm sure they will do the same in the next series with LIU. Seen Thelle in person and it he looked totally fine. Chatting it up with his teammates and no limp or discomfort.

Indeed. Which is why one is not better than the other. Also, SVT not standing out is incorrect. He carried a lot of load from his freshman season on. As a freshman, Chakas was a...serving sub. But then, different seasons, different skill sets, different teams, different opponents. Can't really say one is better than the other.

SVT was already a star before the others you mentioned, even better than Rado, which is why Rado had to sit out a year, because SVT was already dominating on the rightside. SVT was a starter from his freshman year all the way to his senior year. Chakas reminds me of Naveh Milo from the mid's 90's Hawaii teams, his over all game was strong, never came out because he was a good hitter, great passer, defender, and server.

SVT was very versatile which is why they moved him around. One of the best hitters of all-time at UH. Chakas is good, he is not at SVT's level yet. Don't get the wrong, we are lucky to have him play for Hawaii. If we had SVT, I can guaranteed, Dimi won't see the court, or Galloway/Chakas wouldn't see the court.

Chakas is a better passer than svt , no question. Svt turned 20 years old a few months after his freshman season ended. Costas T turned 20 before his freshman season began . Chakas is 20 now as a junior.
