Bulgaria-Italy scrimmage (Bulgaria won 3-2...I didn't really watch but I saw Rado played some) Watching this now. Bulgaria's serving is just relentless. I'm only in the 1st set, but they bring the pressure. Rado is going to be so good as he continues playing. I like the pairing of Bottolo and Recine. They're not going to win matches against bigger teams but there's a lot of potential in what they bring to the court. I'm excited about Romanò's development. He looked good at Milano but he's still young, so the mistakes are a little more glaring. His serve though.... 🔥🔥🔥 By 2028, I think Italy is going to be back on the Olympic podium.

I’m pretty sure I saw a VNL ad with Matt Anderson on it…

Also I think Kurek was named captain for Poland. I know some people like Kaczmarek more, so idk if that tells us anything interesting about the current view of the Polish opposites.
Ishikawa was interviewed and stated that their goal is to qualify for the finals. He stressed this as an important tournament in their road to try to qualify for Paris. He wants to make every match count and show a stronger Japan. Strong statements, we'll see if their play can back it up. Ngl, I think Ishikawa may have needed a bit of rest since he looked subpar in Milano. Hopefully they don't put too much of a burden on him.

I think more and more players are starting to take load management into account with no real off season and are choosing their contracts accordingly volleyball needs to find a period of time to give their stars a break

Going from VNL last year to Olympics to Continental Championships (CEV/AVC/etc. tournaments) to a long pro season with potential Club Championship tournaments (Champions League/Asian Club Championship).... and VNL right around the corner followed by WCh. Brutal. Especially hard for players on club teams who didn't really have reliable depth to rest the starters or players on national teams who rely so heavily on them. Ishikawa is one of those players who carried so much for the NT last year, played tons of sets for Milano (without really being subbed out or rested too much), and doesn't seem to have a real break anytime soon.

Luburic isn't on the Serbian roster I just realized dang Luburic is going to miss the VNL (he is supposed to have some kind of a procedure on his Achilles according to the coach). Kovacevic will miss VNL too but Petric will likely play (just joining late based on a previous agreement with the federation). Very curious to see Serbia's team. I think first week in Ottawa they will play with a young team because old geezers don't want to travel what do you expect from Atanasijevic this tournament? I don't recall him making a lot of noise this past club season.

Well he had a good year - was considered by PlusLiga to be their 2nd best scorer and attacker - www.plusliga.pl/statsRanking/tournament_1/2021.htmlHowever he is getting married soon so not sure if his head is going to be in it oh...I think I'm just out of the loop lol I'd love to see him play well for Serbia this tournament

Italy's alleged week 1 roster:
S: Falaschi, Giannelli Opp: Pinali, Romano MB: Cortesia, Galassi, Mosca, Vitelli OH: Bottolo, Gardini, Gironi, Recine L: Piccinelli, Scanferla
They're definitely resting some of their players who will join in later weeks.

There's definitely no way I will be able to keep track of all the weekly rosters especially as we get into the thick of things... so I'll just post if I think any interesting change happens lol.
