No ÄŚebulj?! What's the point then?
Anyway, USA:
S: Shaw OPP: Hanes OH: Jaeschke/Kessel (?) MB: Jendryk/Gasman L: Briggs
I really want Russell/Jaeschke because I don't think we can afford to not have them on the court with the OPPs and liberos we brought, but I guess it'd be a lot to ask of them to go for four games. I think Russell is a better fit to go at the Netherlands and use them both for Japan/Brazil.

Not sure how likely it is. I have a feeling though that Speraw won’t play both of them against Japan, but he’d play both of them against Slovenia but idk. I think it might be in Japan’s best interest to rest some of their A team against USA. Japan faces Netherlands, China, USA, and Iran in the first round. USA might be winnable, but they should focus their efforts on the more winnable matches and against their Asian opponents. Going 4-0 would be nice for them but they have to manage Ishikawa’s and Nishida’s load. That’s partly why I think it’s fine not to play both Jaeschke/Russell against Japan, but I could be wrong and Japan goes full A team against USA lol.

from our week one roster it's pretty clear that the best team would be
setter: Tuaniga oh: Russell, Jaeschke opp: Ensing mb: Smith, Jendryk lib: Dagostino
Against Slovenia specifically, I'm not sure who I want to set, but I think it would be interesting to see what Shaw can do. I think I would like to see Russell reestablish himself with the NT asap...but I'll take Jaeschke or Kessel as that second OH. I'd like to see what/if anything Ensing and Hanes have added to their game so I'm fine with either. Want Smith to get some rest so I'd like to see Jendryk and Gasman. libero...idk how Briggs will hold up so I'm cool with either. super excited to see what we roll out tomorrow.

I would like to see Briggs personally.
However, if Briggs isn’t available for World Championships bc of school, then Dagostino should get the majority of reps IMO. Play Briggs against Netherlands and maybe Japan. Might be a moot point if Briggs isn’t ready to hang at this level yet.

All of the college players on the roster have two years of studying and “attending” class remotely. School being a hinderance isn’t a factor for World Championships for any of those still in school. Several of the guys even finished their semesters remotely after reporting to training…

I wonder who, if any, of the other college players will get a shot at VNL. But realistically most of the world championship spots are already filled and Briggs I would say is the only one who has a chance. Ofc I could be wrong

Ofc I could be wrong since Covid, a lot of schools have increased flexibility to allow remote completion of assignment ('hyrbid').

I am not surprised that Slovenia is favored. I would say they are in better form at every position except MB and the second OH.
Mozic easily had the best season of any player who will likely be on the court.
While I won't say that Ropret is better than Tuaniga, he did have a solid season for Cambrai (hence signing with Perugia).

I would say the game strategy should be making Mozic work (assuming he will start) and serve the majority of balls at him or in his seam. Make him carry a big load. Very excited for the game and hopefully we see a good amount of new faces!

So what is the best possible line up for Slovenia and can this USA roster beat them?
S: Tuaniga OH: Russell, Jaeschke MB: Smith, Jendryk OPP: Ensing L: Dagostino
Is that even the best line up for the USA? What do ya'll think?
