Looked at the box score to see how the serving was.
7 aces, 13 errors. 74 total serves so about a 17.6% error rate. I would say the serve game looked pretty good given that Slovenia didn't seem to be in rhythm a lot. The error rate is definitely an improvement over what we were seeing at the Olympics. Could be a little better but I'm not complaining.

I understand the need for service pressure, the team just has to mind the error rate.

I understand the need for service pressure, the team just has to mind the error rate. If we're looking at this in comparison to Tokyo, then we'll definitely need to see how the "A Team" improves in the serving department. The only server last night from Tokyo was Smith. Ensing only played the double sub at the Olympics, right? I don't think he ever served. Jaeschke definitely didn't being he played maybe 3 rotations total at the Olympics. Russell has the capability to go hard but also float/hybrid as seen in previous years when his topspin wasn't getting it done. Jaeschke definitely changed his serve over the years, especially at Milano this season, going for a hybrid, a float, or at 75-80% which really worked for him. Jendryk's misses last night were concerning to me. I feel like, other than that, this group is dialed in and has shown to be pretty good at managing their serves. We need to see what DeFalco, Holt, Stahl, Christenson have done with their serves. Anderson is Anderson. But agreed -- the continuous misses with next to no adjustments is annoying.
