It's a great start against an underwhelming opponent.
Not much more to say. Long tourney ahead and the competition will get only stronger

All in all Slovenia sucked but I’m greatly surprised to see effective glimpses of guys I’ve all but wrote off helping the national team (Shaw and ensing specifically)

As long as we have powerful pin hitters (Russell and gabi) and ma’a wants to play his grass tourneys (go get your bread Youngblood) tunaiga is absolutely ahead of ma’a on the depth chart

He stated that the main reason he is taking time off is to spend time with his family. There are things happening with his grandpa (if I'm not mistaken) and he doesn't want to regret not spending this time with his family.

a little high error for Russell but I'm glad he was going for it. wasn't like he was hitting easy balls out of bounds for the most part, they were misconnects or difficult situations and he went up and took a rip
those have to be the best middle numbers we've had in a long time...our blocking looked good out of system. not getting tooled much, good triple blocks and double blocks with defense around them. even when Slovenia were in-system we were making good one-on-one reads and moves while also not getting tooled much.

Yeah, but I never spend too much time and energy in thinking nor debating a 2nd setter.
Christenson has 2 more Olympics in him at a high level.

Russell is the leader of this group. It showed The more he plays the better he gets.

Block looked solid but Slovenia was definitely playing out of system a lot and they are more high ball compared to other teams. Will be interesting to see how the guys look against quicker offenses and more in-system setting.

Was not tryna take a shot at all. Many of these guys miss out on family time playing with the national team over the summer in between seasons. He’s hanging with his family and making money with his brand, all the power to him. Doesn’t change the fact that Tunaiga is for sure number 2 on the setting depth chart until Ma’a proves otherwise on the national team level
