I largely disagree, because they’ll be able to get abortion pills easily. South Dakota will prosecute abortion docs and restrict access to pills: Gov. Noem South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem on Sunday said her state will prosecute doctors who perform abortions and will work to restrict women’s access to abortion pills. South Dakota is among 10 states with “trigger laws” that declared abortion a criminal offense immediately upon the US Supreme Court’s decision Friday to strike down the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that established a women’s right to have the procedure. Noem, a Republican, said South Dakota will prosecute doctors, not women, who violate its law. “We’ll continue to have those debates on how we can support these mothers and what it means to really make sure we are not prosecuting mothers ever in a situation like this,” Noem said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” “[Prosecution] will always be focused toward those doctors who knowingly break the law to perform abortions in our state.” In South Dakota, all abortions are illegal except if deemed necessary to save the mother’s life. There are no other exceptions, including for rape or incest. nypost.com/2022/06/26/south-dakota-will-prosecute-abortion-docs-and-restrict-access-to-pills-gov-noem/I I think Republicans need to rethink this aspect. I can live with the morning after pill. I think it would be a really solid compromise for everyone involved if there is that option.

I too would be opposed to making Plan B illegal. I don’t think that’s what is being done here. Plan B is over the counter. Abortion pills are by prescription.

According to Healthline.com
Plan B isn’t the same as the abortion pill. The abortion pill ends an early pregnancy.
In contrast, Plan B can only be used to help prevent pregnancy if taken within 5 days of sex. It works by delaying or stopping ovulation.

I don't think it'll make a difference in the House (partly thanks to gerrymandering). Dems are gonna lose that sh*t. Senate? I guess, maybe. So Gerrymandering is bad. But the decreasing Democrat disadvantage is understated. A lot of of the newly drawn maps/states are already states that were badly gerrymandered already. Don't take my word for it, here's a 538 article that claims Democrats are coming out ahead of the gerrymandering process: fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-house-maps-republican-bias-will-plummet-in-2022-because-of-gerrymandering/(Note that this doesn't mean that the districts are still evenly represented with the population or that the Dems will retain the House, just not that much damage was done with this round of redraws)

Can it be taken a week or two after conception?

After a woman is pregnant, she can also abort the fetus with a (very different) pill. THAT is what South Dakota is banning.

Our government would be very different if we had a one-man-one-vote government (especially in the Senate). It's not so much that the Democrats would automatically be in control, but rather that the GOP would have to adjust their policies in order to stay competitive. For example, if the majority of Americans supports abortion rights and gun control, the GOP might have to shift toward those somewhat in a world where they didn't have massive extra edge due to the districting process and the Senate being biased toward small states.

This round was definitely better than in the past (above link acknowledges that), partially because some Dem legislatures (finally) are fighting fire with fire.

Google tells U.S. employees they can relocate to states where abortion is legal as lawmakers in Texas promise swift legal action against companies that fund out-of-state abortions Google has told its workers in the U.S. that they will be allowed to move to another state without having to justify after Roe v Wade was overturned Many companies have publicly pledged to promote women's equality and advancement in the workplace But those in states with restrictive abortion laws could now face big legal challenges if companies are found to funding abortions out-of-state Offering to cover travel expenses could also make companies a target for anti-abortion lawmakers Texas lawmakers have threatened Citigroup and Lyft that they will implement laws to prevent companies helping their employees out-of-state terminations www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10955405/Google-tells-U-S-employees-relocate-states-abortion-legal.html you have to love woke companies that are willing to spend lots of extra dollars in order for their employees to kill their babies. How especially wonderful that it’s a Disney, which used to be a company for children. I think they’ve turned into a reprehensible piece of sh!t. I guess Ron DeSantis was correct after all.

One aspect of gerrymandering - there are less and less seats in congress that are competitive. Gerrymandering has been great for incumbents and it is more difficult to gain a super majority.

Your insistence on using inflammatory language when it comes to abortion rights is so counter productive. This is NOT about companies being "woke". This is about women's rights and women's freedoms. What will be your reaction as the SC goes after contraceptives, same sex marriage, etc?
