world rankings before/after wch: Serbia: up 4 (5 -> 1) Poland: up 3 (13 -> 10) Canada: up 3 (17 -> 14) USA: down 3 (1 -> 4) Netherlands: down 2 (10 -> 12) Germany: down 2 (11 -> 13) nobody else in the top 14 moved more than 1 spot up or down. Well that’s makes it official then - contract extension for Shannon 😁. I suppose if I am going to blame her for Canada’s performances then I have to praise her for Canada’s performances. Our Olympic berth is a lock it would appear. Can’t argue as they moved up in rankings. More time together with this squad and this coach now - hoping it’s not one step forward and two steps back. Good luck ladies 👍

VoleybolMagazine (lol to be fair) say Guidetti’s position as NT manager is under scrutiny and will be discussed at the October 28 TVF meetings. Probably a nothingburger but, who knows. Turkey does realize that Karakurt/Hande/Meliha (or whoever) is not a pin trio that medals, right? Turkey's overperformed since Guidetti took over. Yep, and Turkiye will follow in Holland's footsteps if he leaves.

I think winzer deserves like a *little* credit. I know she’s easy to meme but she’s clearly doing SOMETHING at least a little right

By the way, with the right condiments, a nothingburger can be delicious

I suppose it’s like every other team out there …. (A) is the roster you selected actually the best one available? (B) are the six starters the correct six? Makes for good discussion regarding top teams in the world but good arguments for those outside of top 6 maybe. The players can assess the coaches’ strengths/weaknesses if they have been exposed to better coaching than they have presently (all teams can). We’ll see where this goes. The movie keeps getting to theatres but unfortunately the ending is always the same. Let’s hope the Director’s Cut has something that nobody has seen yet 😁

Just 35 points would allow them to overtake #11th ranked belgium. And they have VNL to play.

Good luck ladies 👍 still 35 points to bridge between Canada and Belgium. I wouldn't call it a lock yet (IMO, only those teams above Russia right now in the 300 point club are "locked" -- we'll let Turkey who has 299 in that club) but if Canada plays it right they have two VNLs and one OG qualification tournament to move up the rankings in (2 x 12 matches weighted 40 each, 1 x 7 matches weighted 35 each)

Sounds like an absolutely perfect opportunity to prove the naysayers (yes I have my hand up) wrong. Alright ladies, put your best foot forward and show everyone what you’re about. I’ve had some fantastic meals in my life but none would be as sweet as crow if this group cracked top ten.

Yep, and Turkiye will follow in Holland's footsteps if he leaves. why is that? they have to rely on Gui until Paris 2024 but after 2024, they can easily hire an effective coach. they give fat checks and volleyball in Turkey is crazy. If I were a world class coach, I'd love to work there
