Taylor Yu is going to Stanford. That'd be great, but how could she commit to Stanford when the admission process hasn't finalized yet? We knownusually it'd take at least the end of Junior year for the grades to come in before Stanford admission says yes? 🤔 I mean honestly, we all know what it means when someone is going to Stanford…they’re committed to the application processs, blah blah blah. No one here said she’s signed, sealed, delivered. 🙄

I would guess most P5's are done with scholarships and looking for walk-ons at this point. Will be interesting to see who takes that route vs getting a ride somewhere else. Some names off the top of my head still uncommitted...Renee Jones, Ava Novak, Avery Jesewitz, Taylor Larkin, Melia Johnson, Vivian Parker, Kennedy Johnson, Jamie Marquardt. Shows how difficult it is to get that 4 year offer these kids are dreaming of.

I would agree that most P5s are done with 2024 scholarship offers.

I'm sorry to derail this thread a bit but I'd like to provide maybe a slightly different perspective on the state of 2024 recruiting as it relates to this sampling of athletes mentioned as well as quite a few other really great players that are still out there and unsigned. Yes, it is factually correct to say that most P5s are done with scholarship offers for '24s.
I don't know all the kids mentioned above but i do know several and am familiar with quite a few others and what I would say about the ones I do know is that, for sure, '24 recruiting has not gone as expected, but I'd also say that while most if not all of them aspire to play for a P5 or top 25 type program, that they are also looking for more from a program that just that opportunity. Quite a few of these kids are highly relational and mentoring, closeness of team and openness of coaching staff play a big part in this. There are some of these staffs that are also value relationship and cultural fit as much as playing ability and there is no substitute for time to really tell if there is a fit. Many of the kids mentioned haven't had the opportunity to do 3 day camps at NTDP and work with lots of coaches in depth so the breadth and depth of those relationships hasn't fully developed yet but it is still in process. Also, many of those kids did go to camps over the summer and discovered that the program they thought was a fit actually was not for various reasons and they chose to be patient and wait.
I know several of these kids have no desire to just get in the game and jump in the portal. They want to be developed as players, as young ladies and they want to find a home for a full 4-5 years. They want to be pushed on the court but they also want to prepare for life after volleyball and there are programs they feel can do this well but its just taking time.
The transfer portal window plus the holidays really put the breaks on '24 recruiting for a stretch but may have also provided a much needed break for the girls and for coaches to spend some time with family and away but I would suspect once the portal window is complete, you'll see a hard push with a build toward Triple Crown to complete a lot of things that have been building since the summer.
These young ladies have learned some invaluable life lessons about learning to read between the lines, how to tell who is genuine and how to assess who is really going to do what they say they are going to do and are now so much wiser over a few months from these interactions. Many of these girls are now better at this than most of us as adults because they were forced to learn to do it with adults already.
Also please understand that the fact that many of these ladies aren't committed does not mean that they have not had P5 or Top 25 offers. Some have and they just weren't the right fit and they are choosing to do the hard thing and wait for the right fit, in the right program.
This is not to discount or in any way elevate this kids beyond the ones that did not wait. The kids that have signed killed it, found the right match for them and I can't wait to see what they do. There's just different kids looking for different things and sometimes those things necessitate different timelines. I would also definitely agree that getting the 4 years is way harder than imagined, but you can also say the same thing about a lot of the kids that committed in June. A large chunk of those kids at the very top of the class, did not receive 4 years from P5 schools.
Keep an eye towards Triple Crown. I think there will be some decent action around signing then as the portal window closes, coaches have a better handle on what their team is after additions and defections and then they can really push towards the '24 group with the kids that have been longer play in terms of relationship development.

Does anyone have any intell on the 4 LSU 2024 commits? Interested to know how they rank/stack up against others as this will be Tonya J.’s first full class of recruits for her and her staff.
Lainee Pyles- Louisiana State University- OH (Madfrog) Aly Kirkhoff- Lousiana State University-Libero (Team Indiana) Jessica Jones- Louisiana State University- MB/OPP (Drive Nation) Brianna Watson- Louisiana State University- OH (Drive Nation)

I can also tell you many teams overestimated the portal this year. They figured they could grab a few transfers to shore themselves up, or did not anticipate someone leaving their program. Many teams needed to wait to see what they actually need moving forward before offering. This will expedite 2024 receruiting after the Jan 11th. Feb-April will be a great time for 2024's in that sense. Especially setters, MB's and RS.

I know some '23 that got late offers during this current collegiate season based on performance of current players so getting offers late is getting to be normal. I will also say for certain positions it was still 4 years which is nice.

Why is the assumption that those that committed aren’t receiving 4 years? Are those making those assumptions privy to some insider information? Most of the coaches who are offering are aware of what the kid needs prior to recruiting them based on discussions with their club’s respective recruiting coordinators.

I don't think its an assumption. Quite of few of the committed '24's that I know did not get 4 year offers. I think the other posters are speaking from experience.

I personally know quite a few of the parents of committed 2024s. Many in the BIG10 and SEC did not get 4 years but their daughters wanted to commit to brand name programs. I’d say most of the “top” programs had 1-2 scholarships. That’s it. That’s also why you see some of the highest rated recruits not going where expected, they went where they could get 4 year scholarships and had reasonable expectations of seeing the court.
