Hawai'i doesn't do well in early matches on the continent. A&M may be able to catch them (although I think Hawai'i wins that one.) Hawai'i probably losses to Pitt and San Diego but Amber Igiedi is going to score a lot of points for the Bows. Brutal start time for the Bows against TAMU. Hopefully they arrive on Wednesday and get an extra day to acclimate to the massive time change. I was thinking that too. And also Sunday's 5 AM start time against San Diego. Whoever scheduled this didn't give Hawai'i any breaks.

Three weeks is not a long time when you're disabled and don't know when you'll be able to put these together. There are also a whole lot of matches on the Aug 26th weekend. Sorry that it's so early. I don’t feel you have any reason to apologize. There are many of us who appreciate what you do. We’re privileged to have you contributing to this board. Thank you for all your efforts. That said, this ridiculous earliness means there’s going to be a cut in your pay. So get prepared for that. Thank you. I am sorry that these are so early. It is really early to post Aug 26 threads so I'm not surprised some ppl complain. Despite not getting paid, I regularly get complaints about my match threads. (See my notices about clicking on certain links bc I've gotten complaints that I didn't put links for stats and stuff in the OP when the links were there.)
But I get a lot more compliments and no matter how I make the OP, some ppl won't like it. I really appreciate all the positive feedback I get from so many ppl here so I keep making the threads.
OTOH, I don't want to step on ppls' toes so if you want to make a thread, please PM me and I won't make that thread. I won't mind at all.  |

As I said, I put that at the top of some of the other recent threads I posted but forgot with this one bc I was re-using a match thread from last season and was glad to get it done.
If necessary, I try to bump my match threads an hour or two before each of the matches. (That's a big part of the work involved.) I usually post a tweet from one of the programs that are playing to bump it. With so many matches on the Aug 26th weekend, I'll probably bump some the day before. I expect this one to get bumped from ppl watching and commenting. These should be good matches!

Week one is a total wild card, I’m surprised by nothing that happens. Ball control and returning players is a massive advantage in week one even with lesser talent.

I really wish that AVCA appeal to the NCAA had worked and volleyball had received a whole month to prepare for the season opener. I believe they've been holding super early practices (at least during 2 a days) in part to time acclimate to this tourney. |

as the host team, you would've thought tamu would have played in the later match, which is usually the 'featured' match-up of the day. but tamu plays in the earlier start-time on 2 of the 3 play days. |

Just a few years ago Texas A&M would be competitive in this tournament. I'm hopeful that my Aggies can get at least one win. This year's team is just so unknown. Does anyone know if these four teams will stay together and swap out who hosts? This has potential to be a super fun group to play against each other every year. And thank you baytree for posting this! Texas A&M has the potential to be an SEC powerhouse. I’ve rarely seen one of these where they didn’t rotate between the four teams in some fashion. I would count on that happening. And yeah, it is a fun group. San Diego in particular is much better this year than usual. They’re always extremely solid, but they have the chance to be special this year, IMO. I’d still think Pitt will be the favorite, but it wouldn’t be a huge upset for USD to prevail. I plan on watching as much of the entire tournament as I can. Is there going to be any way to watch the “non- TAMU” games? Only games with the Aggies are listed as being televised. |

I think I’m gonna do it…I think I’m gonna drive to see Pitt vs San Diego on Friday. And then probably make the drive again Sunday for Hawaii vs San Diego…
Will I film the match just to spite the SEC??? Maybe!
