I would estimate that Baylor can afford 4 more losses and be a seed. A 5th loss would make things difficult. It also would be interesting to see if the committee would have 3 schools from Texas be a seed (I assume the answer is yes)? Baylor is an underdog in 4 of their remaining games - but @ Rice and @ Kansas is a very small underdog (essentially pickem matches. And of course heavy underdogs in their two matches against Texas. Pablo odds this week Baylor 80% chance over Iowa State Kansas 58% chance over Oklahoma Texas Tech 58% chance over Kansas State TCU 70% chance over West Virginia Kansas 53% chance over Baylor Oklahoma 87% chance over West Virginia Kansas State 71% chance over Iowa State Texas 89% chance over Texas Tech I did not realize Baylor and Rice squeezed in a non conference match for October 12 in Houston. I may go to that. As a Texas fan I’m also jealous. I wish Texas could have fitted another non con match somewhere. Also, uofastudent just posted the top passing numbers for liberos and Baylor’s Lauren Briseno tops everyone with a 2.5 passing mark on 266 attempts.

TCU’s Audrey Nalls (Offensive), West Virginia’s Skye Stokes (Defensive) and Baylor’s Allie Sczech (Rookie) procured weekly honors for the first week of Big 12 play. TCU earned a league win at home, while Stokes set a season-high for the Conference in digs and Baylor started 1-0 in Big 12 play while earning head coach Ryan McGuyre his 500th career victory. Nalls led TCU in kills and digs in both matches during the week, including a 3-1 win against Iowa State. The senior posted back-to-back double-doubles to start league play, posting 22 kills and 13 digs against then No. 14 Baylor before putting up 16 kills and 11 digs against the Cyclones. Nalls ranked second in the Conference in kills and points per set (4.75 & 5.19) during the week. This is Nalls’ first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week nod and TCU’s first Big 12 weekly award since March 31, 2021. Stokes had a Big 12 season-high 31 digs in a five-set match against Texas Tech. The Chester, West Virginia native amassed a league-leading 6.20 digs per set. This is the junior’s first Conference honor and marks the first Mountaineer to capture a weekly accolade this season. Sczech led the Bears in kills, blocks and points in a 3-1 victory against TCU. Her 12 kills, 23 attempts and six blocks were all personal season-highs. The Sugarland, Texas native’s 1.50 blocks per set were the third-highest in the Big 12 for the week while her .435 hitting percentage was the seventh-highest. Baylor has earned four of the five Rookie of the Week titles this season and has had three different freshmen receive the honor. Sczech and the Bears can be seen on national television this Wednesday, September 28 as No. 13 BU takes on ISU at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

Good for Baylor on their Rookie of the Week honors. Got me thinking - who are the candidates for the B12 Conference all-Freshman team (how many players make it and do they care about positions)?
Shaylee Myers for Kansas State looks like she will make the team. 3.84 k/s and .342 for an OH is damn impressive.

Morgan Perkins (MB), Alexis Shelton (OH), and Taylor Preston (OH) for Oklahoma are all seeing significant playing time agreed about Myers. obviously, Averi Carlson, Riley Simpson, and Allie Sczech for Baylor will be close to that list. I could maybe see Emma Halter for Texas getting an outside look in if she keeps playing. Duckworth at Iowa State? though not sure about positions, because like you said, there are other rookie OHs putting up better numbers than her I know West Virginia has a lot of freshmen playing? not sure about who though

I thought she was going to be a A.Carter type star this year, but that hasn't happened like I thought. LeGrande is another that I expected to be a star, but has mostly not played.

Currently 5th in conference in K/PS, Aces/S and Pts/S, but it’s early!

The B12 really is no night off. With the exception of Texas the differential of the other teams is not very big. And even then if Texas doesn’t show up to 4 teams could beat Texas.

Who is the 4th after KU, BU, and Tech? Are you saying Iowa State after last night? And Texas would really really have to not show up. I don't think they were playing all that well against KU in set 1 and 2 (although KU definitely was a factor in that) and still won in 5. Baylor still looks the most talented but extraordinarily young with 5 freshmen already playing 40 sets or more. Tech I guess we'll see to some extent on Sunday, but bluepenquin showed that Pablo gives Texas a projection of 89% win, which is ridiculous for a Pablo projection. I'll say this. I'm really excited about the Saturday matchup between Baylor and KU.

I'm really excited about the Saturday matchup between Baylor and KU. Those would be the 3 with the greatest chance and I just added one more from the rest of K-St, Iowa St, etc. I remember in 2018 Texas clearly had a better team but still went 5 at K-State. I didn’t think Iowa St had a chance with Baylor after losing to TCU but I was wrong on that. I actually didn’t think they were too terrible overall in the first 2 sets with Kansas. I thought SKT didn’t do a good job of recognizing the double block was forming before the ball touched her hands and compounded the problem with low tight sets. Had she figured that out in set 1 Texas would have swept.
