PTW IS BACK FOR D-I’s 2022 SEASON!!
Once again, please join vbbetterthanbb, FreeBall, vballfan17 and me in welcoming in the 2022 regular season VT Pick-the-Winners Contest! D-I matches start Friday, August 26. As in the past, this contest runs weekly through the regular season ending November 27, with weekly winners and a season winner to be awarded with coveted avatar bragging rights. (We expect there will also be a separate NCAA tourney contest.) All Volley Talk members are eligible and encouraged to enter (any and all) weekly contests and to post comments onto the Master PTW thread to be posted once the Week 1 contest entries are closed.
This year we are again using a standardized contest entry format (see below) in order to make it easier for contestants to enter without making mistakes, and to make the scoring more accurate, more efficient and less time-consuming. Contestants are required to post their entries using the exact format specified so that we can copy and paste your entries "as is" directly onto the scoring spreadsheet. We thank you in advance for understanding and cooperating.
Scoring for this season's contest:
1. One point for each correct pick in each weekly contest;
2. Five points for winning each weekly contest;
3. Ten points for picking every match correctly in any weekly contest consisting of at least 15 matches; and
4. Five points for picking the five highest (including ties) non-perfect weekly scores (percentage-wise) over the course of the season.
WEEK 1 CONTEST: ENTRY DEADLINE: 8:00PM, CALIFORNIA TIME, THURSDAY, AUGUST 25
For your entry, please copy and paste the matches listed below. Then for each match, delete the v. and the team you do not pick to win, leaving ONLY the match number, the period and the team you pick to win on each line, with no space between the period and team, and no trailing space, e.g. “1.Arkansas". Do not put a space between any of the lines. Don't add anything or change the name of the team you pick in any way (e.g. don’t change Southern Cal to USC, or add Go Hawks.) [/b].
Review to make sure you have one pick for every match. "9.Ohio State v. Texas" is the tiebreaker match this week. Enter the 3 digit tiebreaker match total points scored, and nothing else, on a separate line below your pick for match 30. We’ll post a fictitious example of a completed entry in the reply following this post to illustrate how easy it will be for you to enter using the correct format and to review.
Home team is listed first, except for matches at a neutral venue (N) as shown below in the Schedule section just before the numbered matches. If there is still a tie after the tiebreaker, the earliest COMPLETED entry is the contest winner. You can log in and use the "Edit" button to make changes to your posted entry. DO NOT POST A SEPARATE REPLY TO MAKE CHANGES. One contest entry per real person. Do log in occasionally to check for messages re contest corrections or your entry errors. If something does not look correct, please PM me ASAP.
