Yeah, I have made the point that the fire risk is a compelling reason why California cannot viably go all electric. If PGE has to shut off the power in hopes of stopping another Camp Fire, and a fire does break out, forcing people to evacuate, problem. On the other hand, Texas really needs to upgrade its system (and link it to the rest of the country) too. One silver lining is that renewables are helping, there, per a guy with whom I talk at the local brewery who is a higher up in the local electric utility. When it is 100 degrees in the summer, it tends to be sunny and windy. The bottom line is that we are a society that has huge issues dealing with actual problems in any kind of rational way.

Exactly, I could’ve said it better so with our power grid so obviously compromised why in the hell would you encourage more electric car use?

Perhaps you incredibly smart Democrats should’ve worried about the actual infrastructure of this country a long time ago.

Exactly, I could’ve said it better so with our power grid so obviously compromised why in the hell would you encourage more electric car use? CO2 and methane are the largest sources of global warming greenhouse gases. ICE (internal combustion engines) and gas plants/wells are the biggest sources (coal already being on the way out) of CO2 and methane. We need to eliminate ICE and adopt more EVs running off electricity generated from wind, solar, hydro and nuclear. Walking, biking, hydrogen cars, public transportation and etc won't hurt either.

Power grids going out in heat and cold is not a new thing and is not caused by green energy.

Power grids going out in heat and cold is not a new thing and is not caused by green energy. But it will be much further taxed with green energy dumb dumb. That’s the point.

You obviously didn’t read the article before posting the link. It doesn’t mention electric vehicles or cars a single time. It says power grid officials are calling for voluntary conservation between 4PM and 9PM, mostly because people turn up their home air conditioning during those hours. People usually charge their EV’s at night during off-peak periods when they are in bed.

OH NO!!! California issued a flex alert! This is unprecedented! Oh, wait, this happens all over the country in extreme heat situations. This flex alert was for two days ago, and the result was…nothing happened. Zip.
