A different option I was thinking is that you cannot pick the same winner or loser at all throughout the season. That would come out to 102 total teams if only using unique picks if they are ineligible after being used once. That means only using Nebraska, texas, Wisconsin, etc once And only using NJIT, Rutgers, Merrimack etc once I like the idea, but If we do that, I’d have to ask some people to change their already submitted picks, which I’m not really in favor of doing Another way to do it is leave it how you have it (Pick each winner only once, loser as many times as you want), but score each pick based on the difference in Pablo ranking (probably just considering the end of the season ranking). You still are out if you lose a match, but you can also see yourself start to fall behind in points if you keep picking Texas over NJIT. You can close that gap a ton by picking Nebraska over Wisconsin, but your risk of losing and dropping out goes way, way up. You have to weigh losing outright against picking matches close enough that you can keep your score low.

Arizona over Alabama St. Miami (Fl) over Niagara Stanford over Tennessee St.
Was gonna try and be fancy and pick some smaller schools that are mid in their conference that are playing bad teams in worse conferences, but I’ll just get out of week 1 for the time being😭

Although, it seems only fair to use the current week's Pablo rating when making selections. I pull those from RK weekly anyway for RPI Futures so it won't be much more work there. We'll see how this season goes with the current rules and then look to potentially implement something differently next season. Thanks for the idea!

UPDATE: Based on the poll votes, I will leave the rules as they currently are. ***HOWEVER*** if we still have a large number of participants still in after week 9, I will increase the number of picks (and potentially for each of the last 4 weeks) to select to ensure we end the season with a winner.

Y’all out here wasting stanford and Nebraska week 1 smh It is literally possible Stanford goes 0-6 the rest of non-conference after this week. And after losing to Arizona AND Arizona State last season… yeah. Don’t think it’s a waste.

this is so fun but so hard! you don't know what teams will be in the first week, so i'm inclined to go with washington over arkansas, but like you don't want to waste washington this early in the season. i want to save them when they go against oregon st.
ETA: this gets me to look at teams i don't normally look at and really makes me appreciate our sport more! great thread.
